Gene Snare

Unusually warm weather caused my decision to play and I needed to rent clubs. They had one set left but it had 2-3woods, 2-8 irons, and no driver or 5-iron. There was also no club capable of getting a ball out of a sand trap around the green. When I returned the set I let the worker know about the duplications and omissions. he was very rude and said he only got a rental every moth or two. These were clubs you could buy at K-Mart and the grips were slick. They also had clods of dirt on them. The cart paths were broken terribly on most every hole although the greens and fairways in decent with the exception of hundreds of unrepaired ball marks. Won't return...

Fairways and tee boxes are still worn and bare in several after their disastrous loss of most fairways last year. No marshals on course to address not fixing ball marks, hitting into other groups or lollygagging and causing slow play. it is ok to play once or twice a year but not an enjoyable experience outside of the challenge to scoring.

Good layout and the greens are in good condition. The tee boxes are in some need of work: limbs, ragged, and no steps when needed. I will go back to play in the summer

With the dead of winter grass, rolls were a lot longer than expected. It started off rushed because I took a last minute tee time and then spent 15 minutes waiting for someone to show up to check me in. I then had to rush to the tees and took 3-4 holes to settle down and enjoy the round. The blues were not that long but the carry off the tee on several holes was all that I could handle.

The course had a nice touch for Veteran's Day by having all of the pins posted with US Flags. However, they did not provide a holder for the pin when it was removed and the flag cannot be laid on the ground. A nice touch but not fully thought through.

Greens had worn spots and were very bumpy. Costs 7-10 strokes per round. No marshals on the course and waited on every shot through 18 holes, The 2 groups ahead were together and would not let us play through though they had backed up 3 groups and 3 groups skipped ahead to get around the delay. Bunkers were mud and dirt and very little sand.

Very windy and the ball marks on greens and divots in fairway could have been fixed and should have been enforced by a marshall. What a shameful way to treat a good course.

The course is in great shape but they need marshalls to control the abuse. I was in 4 sandtraps during the round and each time was in someone's deep footprint (no raking done). The greens always had extra ball marks to fix. Never saw a marshall but to allow abuse on such a beautiful course is a shame.
