Love the layout! Conditions need a little work.

Hills are something you don't deal with much when it comes to golf courses in Central Florida. I happen to love hills, and Errol did NOT disappoint. There were several elevated tees where you were teeing off down some very significant hills, and a few where you were teeing off uphill.

Most of the course is surrounded by some very nice homes and apartments, which I found to also be inviting.

Crabgrass is a problem on the fairways, however, and the greens all the way around the course are in some pretty rough shape. They did say that they were "making a transition from winter grass to summer grass" on the golf carts, though. Not sure exactly what that means, but OK. The course is laid out so impressively (at least to me) that I'll be back. I shot one of my better games on this course, so apparently the weeds and greens weren't TOO much of an issue. My playing partner and I did have to incorporate a "rule" where if we hit our ball on the fairway, and it landed in some of that crabgrass, we could move the ball to the closest clean spot and play it from there.

I've read some people reviewing this course talking about how the staff wasn't courteous to GolfNow members. In my experience, that couldn't be further from the truth. Everybody I dealt with out there was very extremely nice to me.

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave us a great review! We're so happy to hear that you enjoyed our terrain despite some issues with the crabgrass, which we are addressing. It's great to hear that you'll be returning and we look forward to your next round with us!

My New Golf Home

This was the third time I've played this course. I'm a Hunters Creek resident, so I usually play Hunters Creek. I was really just looking for a better deal on golf on a Sunday, and got one here, and played it again.

Let me start by saying that everyone's cup of tea is different. There are some things about this course that might irk some people, but to me, it makes it unique and special.

For starters, it's next to a small airport, and there is plenty of traffic taking off and landing pretty much all the time. That might rub some people the wrong way, but I get a COMPLETE kick out of it, as I am a huge airplane buff. After you take a few swings, you really get used to the noise...or at least I do. The fairways are a little beat up at the moment, but in early March's dry weather, I expect that, really. The tee boxes and greens are in GREAT shape, and once I adjusted to the speed of the greens, my putts were pretty true. There are some challenging holes, if you're looking for that, and it has its share of easier ones, too. My only complaint is a personal one, but some of the fairways run adjacent to other fairways, so you kinda have to keep your head on a swivel for stray balls from other golfers, but it's a minor thing.

If you're a nature guru, there is PLENTY of it, as I saw three gator on this particular day, along with some turtles and waterfowl.

I saw a drink cart lady when I was in the clubhouse, but I never saw her when I was playing. I assume she does get out there from time to time, though.

Overall, this course has become my new favorite public type course. Great value for the money.

My Home Course, Needs Some Work

I'll be the first to admit that despite it's conditions, I'll keep coming back here. It's my home course, and I'm comfortable here.

That said, I've been golfing here for about 3 years now, and I've seen it go through some changes along this time. You don't have to go far in the reviews here to know that the greens, for the most part, are in very bad condition. On the back nine, they are slightly better, but not near good enough. The fairways are decent, and the tee boxes are uneven at times. Hard to find a good, flat spot to tee off from in most of the tee boxes.

What's GREAT about this course is the layout. You can play it as hard or as easy as you want it. It's a LONG course, especially if you play the tips, but the hazards aren't too bad. Not a ton of bunkers on the fairways, but the greens have enough to challenge. It's really the SIZE of the course that can get to be challenging. I play after 2:30, so I can get the lower rates, and today I played in about 2.5 hours as a single golfer, but even on the long days, it only takes me about 4 hours to play, even if I'm with a group. The staff is friendly, for the most part.

Pros: Friendly staff, great course layout, not a lot of waiting around, decent fairways

Cons: HORRIBLE greens, uneven tee boxes, lack of amenities.

Conclusion: For $18, it's a good deal. Any more than that, and I might would recommend going elsewhere for the moment. If someone would invest some money to those greens and pay a drink cart person at LEAST, Hunters Creek would easily be worth $50 or more.
