West at Jacaranda Golf Club
Played On 02/06/2019horrible condition
greens bumpy, tee boxes patchy, greens sandy in spots, patchy.. no workers on course, Superintendent rude, Mr. Kevin Fiitts. banned me from the course for telling him it was the worst shape I had seen in 10 years, after having played there at least 150 times, both East and West courses.. He was very rude and hung up on me, but not before saying I would not be allowed to play there any more..
I am a USGA member since 1983 over 36 years and I have never been treated so rudely by anyone at a golf course.. This used to be the jewel of Broward Co. one of the best 36 hole courses, well maintained, great layout, superb food. BUT NOT NOW.. I would rate this facility less than 1 star if that was available...
Mr. Milstein – We certainly appreciate your patronage of Jacaranda over the years and we’re disappointed to hear that we did not meet your expectations during your last two trips to the club. We love our local golfers and are always trying to find more opportunities to get them out to Jacaranda throughout the year. As someone who’s played here over 100 times I’m sure you’re aware that we pride ourselves on A+ course conditions and customer service. Those standards are something we stress with our staff daily and based on the hundreds of reviews we’ve received over the years we’re confident we’re achieving those goals. However, we know there’s always room for improvement and we’ll continue to work to make ourselves better and worthy of being considered the “jewel” of Broward County. Our Director of Golf, Andrew Michael, and our General Manger/Director of Agronomy, Kevin Fipps, took the time to listen to your complaints more than once, and we are always open to constructive criticism as that can be beneficial in helping us grow as a team/company. No one would EVER be banned from Jacaranda for merely voicing their disappointment with our facility. However, we would be happy to explain to you directly why we think it is better for you and our staff that you find another golf club. We thank you for the many years you’ve spent golfing at Jacaranda and hope you’ll continue to enjoy the game we all love at the other great courses in South Florida.
Bonaventure Golf Club
Played On 04/14/2018one big cow pasture
years ago there was a course in Miami called Fountainbleu it was considered like playing in a cow pasture.. today i was reminded of that course by Bonaventure which is in the worst condition I have seen and I have played there at least once or twice a year for the last 20 years... there was fallen trees and branches that had fallen in the last hurricane (Sept. 2016) that were still on the sides of the fairways.. the tee boxes were uneven and worn.. there was crab grass everywhere, and the greens were bumpy, and had crab grass in spots also.. I wouldn't play here again if you paid me $50... it was a terrible waste of time as you couldn't putt on the greens, it was hit or miss.. I have lived in S. Fl. since 1962 and have played almost all the courses, including some private, Turnberry, Westin hIlls and Grand Oaks, I still consider Jacaranda the platinum standard.. way better than almost all the others. I will never ever play Bonaventure again and I wouldn't be surprised if it is plowed under for more apartments and houses and it sure looks like it is being neglected which is one step away from that happening... again stay away save your money.. if I could have given it minus 4 stars I would have...
