I love Makray. It is one of the premeir courses in Chicago. It has a great layout, really well maintained and it is run really well. The Rangers are wonderful and very friendly. .

I live in Chicago and was visiting the area for the Holidays. I was excited to play this course due to its raiting and "fair" price for the area. The course, when you arrive, looks amazing and very pretty. However, I was very disapointed with the quality and conditions of the course. The fairways may be some of the worst I have ever seen - there is basically no grass. It is terrible. I couldn't tell what was worse -the rough or the fairway. Greens were pretty good. Tee boxes were bad.

What's weird about this course is the layout of holes, the holes themselves are super pretty and huge hills, unjulations, challenging, etc. The course felt that it was once a Private, Semi-Private beautiful CC and may have been sold and gone public, which it was not maintained well.

We played Deefield on a Friday afternoon and it was a great experience. Great pace of place, great quality Tee Boxes, Fairway, and Greens. The carts have computers in therm. Really good course all around.

This course was recommended to me by a friend, but I do not think I will be returning. The course just overall felt "weathered" and outdated. I was told by someone on the course it's been up for sale a few times. The course is in decent shape and has a lot of challenging holes with water and trees. The "hot deal" rate was very nice and if you live near the course worth it, but I think it's not coming from Chicago.

We made the 40mile hike to Deer Creek to play this course. We were very hesitant due to the price and distance from the city. I am happy to report that it is a "Good" to "Average' course. With that being said, we got the weekday rate of $35, and it was really a steal. The course is actually in really good condition, with the Tee Boxes and Greens in really good condition. It's not an 'exciting' course and really far from the city.

This was an amazing course that somehow I have never played before in the last many years while living in Chicago. I came here per a recommendation and was super happily surprised. The course is really nice, it has a nice range, 27-holes, great carts, and a nice facility overall. It is an "A+ Course" in my opinion - especially for the area of Chicago. The only con was that they added $20 more to rent a cart versus walking rate.

We had a nice time visiting this course. The Pros - it is a very well maintained, groomed course with some cool holes. It is pretty open and forgiving. The Cons is that it is very far from downtown Chicago and our Pace of Play was awful, absolutely awful. We played 5.5 hours for 3 people for a 8:50a Sunday tee time. We never saw a ranger. I wish the pace of play was better, but other than that I liked it.

I played Hilldale with my friends on Saturday and it's a great course!! Honestly, my expectations were low due to most my friends never heard of it (we play a lot around the city), the pictures were ok, and the price point. But, we were wrong! The course is GREAT. It is super challenging (if playing tips), nice variations of holes, really really well maintained, and overall a 5-star course. The course was already in great shape in April! Note: the Ranger joked that it gets much harder in the summer - they increase the speed of greens. Also, the Staff in the club house was super nice (spoke to them twice) and the rangers & starters were all great. You must add this to your list to paly.

I played San Carlos while on vacation in Naples, and it was really great. The course is in really great shape - nice green fairways, boxes, and greens. The course is VERY forgiving. If you need a warm-up course for to knock some rust off, I'd start here. They also run the course really well. I definitely recommend.

I played San Carlos while on vacation this week. It was a really nicely run golf course - great staff, well organized, and nice to play. The course was is really good conditions - great greens and fairways (and rough). The carts have an accurate GPS on them. It was a fairly easier course too - so good to play if you haven’t played jn a while and looking for forgiveness.

I have played this course 3-4 times now. I believe this was the best shape of the course I have seen. The course is fair but challenging, with good greens and fairways.

This was my second then playing the course and it’s still as great as j remembered. The course is in awesome condition, it has a lot of challenging holes and various layouts. I’d recommend to anyone!

There are a lot of challenging water holes, where you have to be smart. The only thing that I don't like about this course is that it does not have a range.

Water's Edge was really a great course, and it is on my "A-List" for my Chicago Public Courses. The course was in great shape, had challenging but true greens, and each hole was unique. The Staff, Starter, and Cart Girl were all very friendly. This is a must-play on a Saturday with the friends!

I played the Joe course at St. Andrew's on Saturday, and it was a really great course. Every hole is a fun, unique layout. The greens are fair but really challenging. The course is really well maintained. I play golf 2-3 times a week, and I ranked this course in my "A-list". I will be back.
