This used to be my favorite public course in the East Bay, but the course conditioning has really suffered. Tee boxes are a mess and the greens are bumpy. I'll still keep this on the rotation because I enjoy the layout, but I hope they put some effort in the conditioning.

I appreciated the extra roll in the fairways, but the greens were also smoking fast. I hit a 35 yard lob wedge to the center of the green and end up rolling into a hazard.

The course is challenging. Its not a grip it and rip it course. You need to give some thought to your tee shot. Pace of play was good and greens ran true.

Buy a yardage book so you get the story behind each hole so you'll have an idea of whether you can reach or carry the fairway bunkers. The course was really interesting and in excellent condition.

A number of fun elevated tee shots as well as a variety of lies due to mounding in the fairways. Consistent green speed with interesting sloping and mounding.

If we didn't have someone in the foursome that had played the course before we would have hit the wrong club off the tee a number of times. Its really short from the whites, but the challenge is in proper placement of your tee shots not length. Fun course that I would definitely play again if for no other reason than I would know where to hit my shots.

This is typical Johnny Miller design in that it really punishes every weak shot. If you're playing it for the first time I highly recommend a course guide since there are a lot of blind shots and a number of tee shots that require some knowledge of how far the fairway is.

Unfortunately, we played on one of the windiest days of the year, which made an already difficult links course nearly unplayable. I gave the course an excellent rating because it shouldn't be penalized for a "one off" weather day.

Under 6K from the blues, but still a challenge. Club selection off the tee, especially when the wind is blowing, is key.

The course was in good condition, but the facilities are getting a little worn. Greens were in good shape, but were much slower than they looked.

I Great variety of holes and challenging without being unfair. Since this was my first time playing the course I was pleasantly surprised by the course. Some spectacular views for a muni course.

Considering that all the holes are par 3s there's a good variety of holes. It would be nicer if the greens and the areas around the green were in better shape, but it does the job as a par 3 practice round.

I enjoy challenging courses, but I don't care for holes that are hard because they're poorly designed. Unfortunately, 14 is one of those holes. Great variety and scenery on the course, but pricey considering there are a couple of holes that you just don't enjoy playing.

In spite of water hazards all over the place, the drought is impacting the course conditions.

Tests every club in your bag in spite of being only a par of 63, but mostly tests your putter. Huge greens mean that you'll have more 3 putts than you're used to, especially with the multiple tiers.

The course is in great condition considering we have a drought in California. I normally don't care for Johnny Miller designed courses, but I was hitting the ball where I was aiming it, so I missed the more penal mistake areas. Miller courses aren't kind if you're spraying the ball even a little so they can be really aggravating if you're a little off.

The course is in excellent condition and plays firm and fast.

The course is dealing with a drought, so they're limiting the water use. Lots of brown where there's usually green, but not where it counts. They've also cut down the areas off the fairways, so balls that would have been lost in high grass and weeds are still playable. Fast and firm, but still in good condition under the circumstances. I'd play it again.

It's been years since I last played Chardonnay and was pleasantly surprised with course conditions and the layout. Played on a Friday afternoon and had the course to ourselves. Enjoyed the course and the experience.

I probably played this course over 15 years ago, so while I have played it before, it was like playing it for the first time. This place has huge greens. Some of the pin positions left you with impossible putts to 2 putt, let alone make. It was good to have a local paired up with us since club selection and aiming points weren't always obvious.
