Papago Golf Course
Played On 02/15/2018Good golf, few amenities now (early 2018)
Clulbhouse and surrounding area was under construction, but the course is in great condition. Played white (old man) tees at 2pm. Finished in 4 hours. Rewards good placement more than distance. You want to avoid grassless areas in the rough.
Papago Golf Course
Played On 02/19/2016Great experience, great views
Very fast greens did not detract from a great round completed in just over 4 hours. Course is interesting (not much water, though), and fairways and greens are in great shape. There is plenty of drinking water on the course, but you can buy a large Heineken for just $4.75 from the cart. Two large, red, eroded hills to the northeast form a scenic background for many of the holes.
Grand Canyon University Golf Course
Played On 02/18/2016Good use of flat terrain
This provides some variety despite it's lack of hills, including the various tees one can choose to play from. Traps have been used to increase the course difficulty. They guard all the greens and on most holes have been place to such up off-center drives, but they are in excellent condition. Balls hit near the ponds (where they exist) will usually roll in. The tee boxes and greens are in very good condition while the fairway have a few browned out patches, especially on the front nine. Play speed was good despite numerous foursomes on the course (under 4 hours).
Arizona Biltmore Golf Club - Estates Course
Played On 02/10/2016Great greens, 3-hour round
Perhaps it was the 8:15am mid-week tee time, but I played alone for 18 holes in 3 hours seeing (and passing) only one foursome the whole time. Course is not boring, though relatively short. Greens were in great shape and very true. Could have used GPS on the cart or yardage markers.
