Gallery: 10 of my favorite golf holes on Hilton Head Island

Undoubtedly, one of the best golf destinations in the United States is Hilton Head Island off the South Carolina coast. And that's even if you don't count the excellent private courses in the area.

With courses that run the gamut from solid, value driven layouts (everything is relative, of course, because nothing on Hilton Head Island is cheap) like Shipyard Golf Club to tour-quality experiences like Harbour Town Golf Links at Sea Pines Resort, the island has something to offer every visiting golfer.

Having been fortunate enough to visit Hilton Head Island about a half dozen times, I've played nearly every golf hole open to the public, and like anyone else, I've build a collection of my favorites. I also list my 10 favorite Hilton Head Island-area courses here.

While the honest answer is the holes I love the most might be concentrated on just three or four courses, but for this exercise I've spread the love a little.

So with that said, here are 10 of my favorite holes from courses that are actually on Hilton Head Island:
