Making up one half of the courses at the historic Broadmoor Resort in Colorado Springs is the West Course, which is a little less heralded than the nextdoor East. It's nevertheless just as easy on the eyes and certainly not a cakewalk to play.

The front nine holes play generally uphill and head across the same street the East Course has about half of it's golf course on. After an uphill par-5 10th hole, things lighten up in a big way as most holes from here play back down the foothills towards the resort. Standouts include a sharp, dogleg left 12th hole and gorgeous 13th and 15th holes with wonderful long views as a backdrop.

The 18th hole is a great finishing par 5 that with a good drive is easily reachable in two shots for longer hitters but has a small and elevated green.

Like the East Course, the West features holes from both Ross (10) and Robert Trent Jones Sr. (eight). Golfers start on six Ross holes before crossing the street and playing Nos. 7-14 - all Jones creations - then finishing up with four Ross designs.
