Tour Boyne's Crooked Tree Golf Club in Petoskey, Michigan
Crooked Tree Golf Club in Petoskey, Michigan is one of ten golf courses under the Boyne Resorts umbrella. The golf course originally opened in 1991, originally desinged by Harry Bowers and later renovated by Arthur Hills after it was acquired by Boyne, which also owns nearby Bay Harbor. Crooked Tree is unique amongst the Boyne courses because it operates as more of a standalone facility with no hotel onsite. It creates more of a quiet and local vibe. There is a small residential component here but for the most part it is a very quiet and elevated setting with views of Little Traverse Bay on both nines.
The golf course was recently renovated, most notably the three finishing holes. No. 16 is now an exciting, potentially drivable par 4 that tumbles downhill. Whereas the landing zone was once native area, it has been filled in with continuous fairway. The same goes for the par-5 17th hole, and the 18th has also been adjusted. The added playability of the routing has caused Crooked Tree to vault up the ranks in rounds played in 2020 within the Boyne umbrella.
Michigan golfers on a Boyne golf package have options. Boyne Mountain resort is about 20 minutes to the south and has two of its own golf courses on property. The Inn at Bay Harbor is the closest, about 5 minutes away, while Boyne Highlands in Harbor Springs, Boyne's largest golf resort, is about 20-25 minutes away.
