Breath Taking
First time playing here and was not disappointed. Probably the hardest course I've ever played. Staff members could not have been nicer. Greens were perfect, views were AMAZING. Thank you Bayside can't wait to play here again
#1 ocean city course
The best course in ocean city Maryland area. I will be back in the spring/summer to play again
Nice Course, but Slow Play
The course was in great shape and had an interesting layout. Unfortunately, the foursome in front of us took 5 hours to play the round. A Players' Assistant stopped on the 8th hole and told us he had asked the slow group to pick up the pace. This worked for a hole or two, and then play slowed down again. The Players' Assistant never came back to monitor play after we saw him on the 8th hole. Very disappointing.
Hot Day and a Hot Course
Bayside is a must for any golfer playing in the Bethany-Ocean City area. The course was in terrific condition despite being aerated less than three weeks earlier. The layout is challenging but fair. However, you must be capable of carrying your drives 220+ over water on some holes. The greens were fast but not overly so and the bunkers were well tended. The staff was courteous and friendly. Overall a very pleasant golfing experience.
Good course, horrible greens, equals big disappointment
I'll start with the positive. This is a very interesting course that requires well thought out strategy as well as skilled shot execution. Early on I decided to club down often, sacrificing distance for accuracy, and noted that things started to go better.
The practice green was very good and up to the standard that one would expect. On the first few holes it was clear that the greens had been aerated a week or two ago, but they were passable. After that, there were a large number of greens that were almost like fairway on a really good course, or like the greens on a $10 country course. Interspersed were a few good greens, so that we never really knew what to expect on our approach.
The next day I played Baywood Greens which had impeccable conditions, phenomenal landscaping, and a much better vibe. Paying a few dollars more to play Baywood, or from what I hear, Lighthouse Sound or Rum Pointe , would definitely be worth the extra cost.
Course was in fair condition
The greens had recently been aerated and several of the fairways had large bare spots in them. The course condition had deteriorated significantly from the condition when I played the course a month earlier.
It was disappointing that this wasn't disclosed when booking the tee time.
The fees were also not reduced accordingly.
Perfect golf day
Very nice course. Would have given higher marks, but the fact that aeration was recently done... I understand the need and all, just a timing thing. I would certainly go back for another round. Course knowledge will help next time.
good course, but...
the course was very nicely designed and challenging. this only thing was the maintenance of greens. ball jumped around on the green.
Great track for all skill levels
If you play the designated tees for your skill level this course is a lesson in accuracy. I was paired with 3 guys that thought they should play the champion tees so I played them too. At 6835 yds it was long but a really fun track. Those guys should have been warned to stick to the member tees instead of shooting in the high 90's from the back tees.
I am going to play this course at least one more time this week. Between the friendly staff and one of the best courses in the area, it's worth getting paired up with pot luck players and playing tees too long.
Needs some work
Jack wouldn't be happy if he saw his course in this condition. The front 9 fairways and greens are in the worst condition that I have experienced in the last 6 years. It looked as though two different green keepers split the maintenance on the front and back 9. The back 9 although in better shape than the front, still lacked the plush fairways and fast greens that I had experience at Bayside in the past.
A precise experience!
Study the on-line yardage book and you will enjoy this layout so much more. I played 2 tees above my regular yardage and still beat my handicap by a couple of strokes. Forced carries, lots of bunkers, and medium-fast, but true greens,....a gem. You will want to play this one again, and again.
Great Shape, somewhat unforgiving!
Enjoyed the round. We were told being a twosome that is may be slow, but we never really caught up to anybody, nor did anybody catch us. So we played at a good pace.
The course was in very good shape, greens are fast, and seems like you had to play over, around, next to marsh and wetlands on nearly every hole .. paid the price for mishits.
Multiple tee choices, even a blended tee choice that shortens the long par 4's for the most part.
Jack did not make it easy!
Strategy course hard to score on without gps on the cart. Only negative however
A great day on the course!
Overall experience couldn't have been better. Staff very accommodating and friendly. The course is in excellent condition. One final comment. I did notice that Jack has placed a bunker at the end of many of my drives!
