Great old course, great shape, bunkers have sand NOT gravel. Greens are smooth and well kept. Staff are very friendly and are looking to help you with anything.
Prepare to wait in Afternoon
Great course, great clubhouse but be prepared to wait if you tee off in the afternoon. This hidden gem is novice friendly and the novice come out after 12pm.
Get off early and you will not be disappointed.
First time in 10 years
Haven’t played this course in at least 10 years. Not for any specific reason. This course was in excellent shape and the price for this time of year was even better. I took some associates out for a round of golf and we all had a great time. From the beginning to the end the staff was amazing. We had a delay due to frost which it’s Arizona who could predict this right? The staff did a great job communicating his to the golfers who were there at that time and during the round they checked in on us multiple times to see how we were doing. Even my boss who is a bit in the upper end was very impressed with this course. So congrats tho the management and his team for running this course. Thank you for the experience today!
San Marcos Still Great
The course, greens bunkers fairways were all in great shape. Very accommodating staff and beautiful as ever.
I don't want to write this review because if everyone finds out how great this course is, I will lose my hidden gem.
Course in great condition. Wide open tree lined fairways with great greens. This course is perfect for someone who wants to enjoy their round and not lose a lot of balls.
There really isn't a driving range so warm up other ways. I will be back often. Keep up the great work.
Course was in good shape and laid out nicely a nice test.
Great coirse for the price
Challenging course for under $30 to play during the summer. Refreshingly open without 'desert golf' concerns of losing a ball. The greens are super protected with bunkers.(Covid times do have the bunkers a little thin on sand) A really good course overall.
Course was short, fun and to the point! Greens were in good condition, fairways were nice and alive, for the $ you cannot beat this course! Will be back again!
Cut for seeding
Fairway good shape but the green were cut down to dirt for seeding. So for +110 degrees all the greens were poor shape.
Sorry but greens need time to grow in after seeding
We want to play again!
We enjoyed San Marcos and want yo play again. We appreciate the safety restrictions that are in place due to the pandemic.
Great Course Terrible Staff
So first of let me start by saying the course conditions were amazing best course I have played during the summer. There was one major issue was the staff there. Felt like they had something against my group from the start. We are all younger and colored.
We finished the course in exactly 4 hours. On hole 13 we were told we were going to slow, mind you whole telling us the starter was parked 20 yards in front of me in line of sight to pin while trying to finish out the hole.
During the round we only saw the beverage once on 9th hole and then at 18 after we finished our round. We ordered 2 shots and 2 beers a peice during our 4 hour round of golf. We then went and ordered another shot at the bar. About 20 minutes later we tried to order another shot and were told we were to drunk and could order anymore alcohol. None of us were acting ignorant and sluring our words or even giving off the impression we were drunk. Once we left a group of ladies was upset and surprised that we were told we could not drink anymore because we were clearly not intoxicated. We feel were singled out for being younger and colored which is not right at all.
We planned on staying for a few more hours and eating there as well. We will probably never play at this course again just because of the staff experience we had while playing and after.
The course looks great, plays great, nice fast greens
Loved playing the oldest course in AZ
Won’t hesitate to play again
This is a hidden gem. You will enjoy unless you tee off after 12pm. Slow play in afternoons.
