Poor green conditions/poor value for the $$
The staff was great, consistent with other high end courses. Course itself was a lot of fun & challenging to play on a windy day. We paid over $300/person, & at this price point the greens were horrendous. It looks like no one ever fixes a ball mark. I am a lower handicap, and if I had been playing a money game I would have had to fix multiple marks on most putts.
The fairways looked nice, but similar issue of people not replacing/fixing divots.
Unless you have money to burn, there are a lot of other options in Scottsdale in the $100’s & $200’s.
I Expected Better
This course has a great track. It’s challenging but would be great for any level of golfer. The staff in the pro shop were excellent, the starter “average”. The fairways were in great shape and had just been over seeded. My disappointment came with the greens. They made the course feel very “touristy” in that the greens were pockmarked with divots and I wouldn’t have expected that based on the cost to play this course.
Awful pace of play
Course was cart path only. It took us 3 hours to play 9 holes. I have never played a round of golf anywhere in the world this slow. Awful.
The longest day in golf
Course in decent shape, but no Marshall It took us 6 and 1/2 hours to play 18 holes. At the end of the round we were just trying to finish. People we’re steady coming around us from 15 in because they had had enough and knew there was no way they would finish before dark. Just sad paying this much money to be miserable
Terrible Tee Time Management & a “Water” Tax
I have been waiting for months to play this course. Extremely expensive place to play for your average Joe. First things first, Troon charges a “water tax”that wasn’t on any documents from Golfnow. It was $10 more for us with the explanation of “we have to truck water in” Ridiculous. No other course in AZ does this in my years of golfing the Phoenix area. Course was in beautiful condition and has breath taking views. The Monument course was closed for seeding. We were on the Pinnacle course. Troon decided in their infinite wisdom to overload the course with foursome after foursome. The first 4 holes went by with minor waiting for the group in front of us. At Hole 5 we sat and waited for 25 minutes until the 3 groups in front of us were able to clear. The course Marshall was a very nice man and was able to get us a refund due to the fact that the course was overloaded and we wouldn’t finish before dark. Unbelievably disappointing. Luckily the course manager was reachable by phone in order to get us our refund from the kid in the pro shop. Completely unacceptable behavior from supposedly the best course in Arizona. I will be taking my business elsewhere.
Troon North Monument course
A memorable experience at the Troon North, although we could only finish 14 holes. Our tee was at 2:50pm (at $146). However the pace was at minimum 4.5 hours round so we didn’t finish before it’s dark. The range was closed due to over seeding so no proper warm up. Hope to come back to finish it sometime in the future.
Good course
6 players. All really liked the course. Practice area closed and not announced when tee times booked. Greens were heavily ball-marked.
Overrated
This was by far the worst golf course we played in the Phoenix Scottsdale area this week. The fairways were torn up and the greens were in terrible shape. Our round took almost 5 hours, and that is only playing 14 holes. Way overpriced for what you are going to get. Would not recommend playing right now!

Very busy place. Great layout but needs some TLC
Greens were very banged up but we played at 3 pm
Pace of play was very slow and no ranger in sight
Had a 5 some bachelor party 2 groups ahead of us and was extremely slow..
Would like to go back and enjoy it more
Rough start but fun in the end
Was initially disappointed the driving range was closed for maintenance. Would have been nice to know that ahead of time. I have lots of stiff joints and it requires a lot of time to loosen up on the range (or somewhere) in order to find my swing for the day and be ready to play. Unfortunately, that affected my front 9. The back improved quite a bit once I was loosened up a bit. Had a hard time gauging the greens and kept hitting the low side of the hole. However, the scenery more than made up for the poor round. Can't wait to come back.
Great course
I love playing Troon north. I was disappointed only in that the driving range was closed. If you are going to play a great course, you like to enjoy the experience, not just starting swinging away.
Troon North on the Cheap
This course is excellent in the summer. Great conditions and fees are much more reasonable. Our rate was only $81 on Teeoff.com. Would not pay $200+ for this course in the winter. My difficulty rating is based on the Silver tees which was about 6200 yards. Fairways are generous and not much protects the greens.
