Course needs work
Have played Orange Tree a bunch. First time since last year. Was soooo disappointed. Fairways, Greens, Sandraps all in really rough shape. Greens were punched and fairways only splotchy with grass. The saving grace for the round was that it was very fast. My partner and I made it around in 3 hours. Not going back for another year. Hopefully, they will get the course back in shape.
Greens and Traps!
The course should warn guests that the greens have been plugged and sanded. Worse than temp greens!
There were signs that traps were being worked on. That's ok.
Course is a mess
Aerated tee boxes, fairways and greens impacts this review. Heavily sanded and punched greens made accurate putting nearly impossible. A lot of fairways are loaded with grassless areas. Not a pleasant round. Support staff, however, was outstanding. Just wish Orange Tree would advise of course conditions before allowing an online booking. Disappointed.
Terrible conditions right now.
Do not play here right now. The worst conditions of any golf course I’ve seen in the valley so far. Fairways were mud, greens were basically a sand trap. Go somewhere else for 30$.
The golf course is in shambles, will not be ready for at least a month. Only the front 9 is open, but there is enough top dressing on the greens for 36 holes. Burnt out almost everywhere, but that is to be expected in July. Do not make the same mistakes we did, it is worse than you think.
Unplayable course. Greens are a disaster.
I’ve played here a few times before and it’s always been fine, but today was legitimately unplayable. I can deal with dirt patches in the fairway and burnt out tee boxes. It’s Arizona summer golf, we can’t expect perfect conditions. But the greens today had not only been punched, but top dressed to the moon and back. This, along with the fact that the back 9 is closed and we’d be playing the front twice, wasn’t disclosed before booking. It was only $30, but I’d rather spend that $30 on a bucket of balls and a few Gatorade’s at the range. Don’t play if you intend on putting. I will say, the staff was very nice. Not their fault the course is open when they need to shut it down for a week or two.
Good morning: As per most courses this time of year in AZ, we are going through a transition period. It's not pretty for sure, but every course goes through this. It is summertime in AZ, so we must adapt, and be patient for this transition to work this its' process. We thank you for your patience and we look forward to seeing you again.
GN needs to inform Us
After waiting to play golf here, a place I enjoy.. I was not happy! It was like a skeleton crew also found out after checking in that I would have to play back 9 twice since they were aerating the front…no starter, the snack shack was closed the grounds crew were everywhere and the sprinklers were watering beyound their holes and soaking the sand on others. We had to time the sprinklers just to get to next hole!
Thank you for your note. Our apologies you were not happy with our course on this particular day. It is that time of year where maintenance takes priority of all golf courses in AZ. We did advertise our intent to aerate on our FB page, on Instagram, on our website and signs we had posted on property. We offered special pricing for the inconvenience for the aeration as well. We look forward to your next visit as you will see a huge difference in our greens.
not in great shape
I was not very impressed with all the dead areas of grass on the fairway. Most of the greens were acceptable but again not in great shape. My expectations were of lush fairways and nice and even greens. I'll be back in the fall to play again. Hope the course is in better shape.
Good morning. Thank you for your comments. It sounds like you have played courses in AZ in the summer time. We than you for your patience. We did aerate our greens, and as you know, it is a process. Our greens are now in great shape. The transition process of Bermuda grass coming in is not a pretty site, but with additional patience, you will notice a significant difference in our course. We thank you again and invite you back in the fall, after overseed and see how well the playing conditions are.
Awful Conditions
It was hard to find a decent patch of grass in the fairway. You're often hitting off dirt even after a good shot.
All the tee boxes are scorched.
Thank you for your note. Yes, most golf courses in AZ are fighting this very issue. It's called transition.
We look forward to your next visit when transition is complets.
You get what you pay for
it is still just June and the course looks like August. Lots of burned out areas on the fairway and many spots just bare dirt. Tee boxes were also just bare dirt on many holes. Bunkers for the most part had good sand. Glad I only paid $30 for the round
Thank you for playing Orange Tree Golf Resort. This part of the year the grasses are transitioning, it is common among golf courses in AZ. We aerated our tee boxes, and we are continuing to make improvements to all our bunkers. We look forward to your next visit.
Perfect Saturday
Got paired with two really fun players. Pace was good, Course was in decent shape--a couple of bunkers under repair and some thin grass in a few fairways, but that's to be expected in summer desert golf. Greens were decent. Overall, a lot of fun, some good golf, and all at a very friendly price. Will play again.
Terrible condition,
Don't waste your time as nothing good about this course as it's in terrible condition and not worth the cost of a green fee.
Thank you for your note. We were in the process of aerating our greens, we advertised in our social media outlets, FB, on our website and of course in our golf shop and around our property. We also offered special pricing for any convenience anyone may have encountered. The aeration is complete now and our greens are in excellent shape. Come see us again, we look forward to your visit.
