Palm Course - McCormick Ranch Photo submitted by tainge on 03/29/2013
Palm Course
Course was in very good condition. Pace of play excellent....our foursome played in under 4 hours.
Pace was good, the rest…meh🤷♂️
I have played numerous courses in the Phoenix area. Gainey Ranch, Seville, to name a few. My assessment of first time playing McCormick- Palm was pleasant but nothing special. Conditions were not bad, but not exceptional for prime season and $169/each. The slope on the greens, given the day's pin positions were almost comical. The greens rolled well, but with such pace and position I was waiting for a windmill and the clown's mouth to appear. Fairways were nicely overseeded, but surprisingly there was standing water in some areas and in several minimally groomed sand traps. I know there was significant rain a few weeks earlier, but you don’t expect standing water in the desert.
This isn’t a complaint, more of an observation for others but the front 9 and back 9 felt like completely different courses. Layouts were much different going from sequentially laid out holes on the front to old school, squeeze. 9 holes onto the smallest possible acreage on the back. The back 9 also included areas of pea gravel landscape beds that were in play. These were not present (or at least unnoticeable) on the front 9.
I would certainly consider playing the course again sometime, or trying the Pine course, but given the numerous options in the area, I wouldn’t want to play at that price point without more of a premium experience.
This course STINKS, it is it;s name a ranch turned golf course, flat and boring.
McCormick golf
Course was soaking wet and it hadn’t rained in almost two weeks. Standing water in the bunkers and fairways were soaked and muddy. Not saying I wouldn’t play again but I would look at other courses first
18 at McCormick Ranch
The course was soaking wet. Standing water in the bunkers and it hadn’t rained in close to two weeks. Fairways are something I would see at a cheap county course and not a course in Scottsdale that charges higher prices to play. The young kids working at the bag drop were very nice and the waitstaff that we encountered after our round on the patio were great. Probably wouldn’t go out of my way to play it again.
Awful Conditions
The title says it all. It's a $45 course at best. Won't be back.
Overpriced
Unfortunately all courses this time of year are overpriced. The past 3 post Covid years have seen all courses rates jump, like doubled which is crazy.
Not Great
Nice staff.
Way overpriced. Course dry. Like hitting off dirt in lots of places. Sand minimal in bunkers.
Terrible value. Would not go back
Good time at McCormick
Played twilight golf ..friendly starter ..
At the turn another gentlemen was very helpful
guiding us for the last 4 holes
Slow play - find another course
The course was completely backed up and play was extremely slow….9 holes took nearly 3 hours. They appear to be booking times too close and I didn’t see anyone monitoring the pace of play of players. For the money, this was extremely disappointing.
Course was over priced
Layout was easy so they tricked up the greens
Fairways were beat upon the back 9.
Round of golf should be no more $100
McCormack surprise
I played this course 5 years ago and swore I would never play it again. But I did and I was pleasantly surprised. Tee to green, the course was in great shape.
McCormick Ranch Pleases
Playing this golf course for the first time made for fun on a course that is certainly maintained and looked after. Pro shop pros were friendly, starter was friendly and the overall atmosphere was pleasant. Definitely will play it again.
