Quality, challenging coursr with friendly staff
First time at this course and we already want to come play again! Beautiful scenery with river rapids and waterfalls, great white sand bunkers. Greens were semi-fast.great deli with friendly service and free popcorn. We’ll be back!
Good Course/Slow Play
This was probably the slowest 18 holes that I have ever played. I was a single playing behind a twosome that were the SLOWEST players i have ever seen. They could not walk any slower from the cart to their ball, and then putting was really slow. I like to play a little on the slow side and take more practice swings when I play by myself but I had to wait at least 10-12 minutes on every hole. I usually play 18 by myself in 2-1/2 hours but this round took me 5 hours to play.
Course has great topography
Great scenes from many holes. Greens were okay except players didn’t fix divots. Fairways were very wet and soggy on many holes.
Good Course
There were some very wet areas and this course has lots of fairway bunkers, but it was a nice layout and I would play it again. The pace of play was very slow though.
Hilly and Fun
Can't say enough nice things about this course. The starter was very friendly, let me go out first as a single. Weather looked ominous, but avoided the later arriving rain. Course has plenty of hilly terrain, and wooded areas bordering the fairways. Some houses, but they were set pretty far back. Fairways, tee boxes and greens were all in excellent shape. You have to get the right second shot-some of the greens are pretty well elevated. I would play here again, anytime. Drove from Little Rock since the ratings were better than others. Finished my round in 2 hours 5 minutes. Gave 2 balls to the woods.
Relaxing and fun day!
I had a business trip to the area and I used to live close by but everyone was out of town, go figure. I went on GolfNow saw that I could get into the village and picked Ponce. What a great choice from staff to ease of use to the little restaurant it was excellent. I played two rounds in 5.5 hours. Played the first round in 3hrs and asked staff about a replay and they set me up. The second round was very peaceful and fun (plus I shaved 7 strokes) because I knew the course better. Do yourself a favor and go to Ponce de Leon, there are many courses there but this one was exceptional in all ways. Thank you Staff!
Change of pace
Great being able to reach every green. Course in great shape. Par 3 still challenging.
First timer very positive
The course was in excellent shape, especially the greens, and enhanced by a nice pace of play. Wide fairways but a lot of elevation changes made the course a nice challenge.
Awesome Course
Had not played any of the Billage course in 10-12 years. Decided to start again with Balboa and am glad I did. Staff was EXTREMELY nice and went out of their way to be sure we were well taken care of. The course was in Fabulous condition as were the greens. Great time and we’ll be back.
Surprised by awesome
Came out here to Hot Springs Village not knowing what to expect. Now I know - expect awesomeness.
The course is currently in very good condition tee to green. Greens were a little soft and slow today.
Fabulous layout. Challenging but not impossible holes, some elevated greens (1-2 clubs extra to reach par-5 #1, par-4 #9, par-3 #12 and par-4 #18) but also a couple of beautiful downhill approaches to greens with water hazards on one side (#4 and #16) and downhill par-3's (#8). Some great par-5's layouts. I especially liked #12 with a creek that splits the hole twice, requiring a drive placed left/short of hazard, then a layup across the hazard to the right side of the fairway, then another forced carry to the green.
Friendly service in the clubhouse, good quality driving range (new-ish balls, hitting surfaces not too thin) and a pretty reasonable price for the quality of the facility puts this one on my return (and bring a friend) list.
Great course
Overall a very nice course. Front 9 is tight but short holes while the back is long and wide. Lots of variation between uphill and downhill. Sand was in good condition. Boxes looked great. The only thing I don't like is the location. It's inside HSV, which is a retirement community so you have to go thru a gate that's super inconvenient to the course and there are no businesses close by (bars, restaurants, etc.). That's not a knock on the course though, so not a big deal as long as you aren't going to the course with the sole intention of getting food.
Not bad for the money
Pace of play could of been faster. Tee boxes and greens were fair. Fairways not the greatest condition for 70$ a round.
Out of towner, good course
In from out of town, had no knowledge of local courses. About a 30 minute drive from Hot Springs. Course was challenging, very hilly but some beautiful views. Course was in great shape, greens rolled fast and true.
Solid pick if you're looking for a challenge and good conditions. I was not disappointed especially this early in the year. From someone who has played courses from coast to coast, this course was enjoyable. Don't expect resort style clubhouse and amenities but expect great value for the price.
Tee it high and let it fly.
Very good given the time of year
It's mid March so I didn't expect perfection. The greens are already good. The rest of the course needs a month or so.
I played Nina and Pinta from the Blues. Nina is fun and a decent challenge. Pinta is beautiful and much more difficult. There are pin placements on Pinta that will make you want to pull your hair out. LEAVE THE BALL BELOW THE HOLE!!! ;)
Overall I'm very happy to have gotten to play this course for $40. Can't wait for May/June
