We were pleasantly surprised that the course was very nicely maintained.

Cold 58 F ,windy not fun

following a foursome , we had a 2 some , and they were waiting as well, 2.5 hour 9 holes , poor condition of grass, tee blocks , stone in green side bunkers. just lower class of course maintenance . only played 9 and went home.not going back . we had played it years ago, we would not recommend it.

Pace of Play

Pace of Play is the giant white elephant in the Coachella Valley. Of the 26 rounds I played in the five weeks I was there, very few maybe two were under 4 hours. Golf has a big issue. Slow players, usually 4 buddies taking hours on the green or couples that don't pick up, or older people who are not ready to take a shot. At Cath Canyon, on the third hole there were 2 groups on the hole and 4 waiting! Pathetic. Course sent someone out and I talked to a guy in the clubhouse, but they don't care, they know the same old slow fogies that play there are going to come back. I would rather play on 111 than there.

Nice course with challenges.

The course was in the best shape I have seen in years. Greens ran true with plenty of slope. Lots of water that comes into play. Worth checking out.

Decent course for this time of the year

With the exception of the greens, which were patchy and slow. The fairways were great, most of the rough was only an inch deep and the bunkers were well maintained. Teed off at 7am, done by 9:15. We will definitely play it again.

Poor decisions due to incompetence and lack of facts

On 12/28/19 at 10:00 am, I received a phone call from a subject with Cathedral Canyon's golf staff who I believe identified himself as Robert. Robert was calling to advise me that Cathedral Canyon was not honoring my 11:12 am tee time which I made for a foursome over a week ago through Golf Now. One hour before my groups paid tee time he decides to call and tell me this? In addition, he advises me my group is no longer allowed at the course…What? First of all, I don't know what he meant by "my group" because I have golfed that course a handful of times with a different mix of friends, family and colleagues. I usually book the tee times through my membership with Golf Now. Anyway, no explanation as to why my tee time was canceled nor why I was not allowed at the course. I was "thrown for a loop" and asked him if he was going to refund my money. He told me, “No, it’s not my problem. The conversation ended without any explanation for the sudden, last minute cancellation of my foursomes’ tee time. I immediately called Golf Now and attempted to cancel.... still pending. I then called the members of my foursome and gave them the bad news. They too were confused and disgusted with the lack of professionalism on behalf of Cathedral Canyon's representatives. Later that same day after speaking to some of my friends (some of who called the Cathedral Canyon Golf Shop to get an explanation) I was told two golfers in "my group" a few weeks back did not pay their green fees. Well first of all, I've always booked and paid for "my groups" green fees in advance. There was an incident a few weeks ago at Cathedral Canyon Golf Course when my paid foursome was joined by a twosome who were riding in a Cathedral Canyon Golf Cart. They knew one of the individuals in "my group” and asked if they could join us because pace of play was slow.... That is the only incident I could think of and those two golfers were not in "my group." I had no idea if they had paid the golf fees or not since they were not part of our foursome.
It should also be noted that there was no "starter" at the first tee checking receipts when my group started. I can only assume there was also no starter present when the two other individuals were at the first tee because they were golfing directly behind my group. It can only be assumed the two had paid fees since they arrived at our tee in a golf cart. I had proof of payment via receipt for all four individuals in “my group” and I could have provided that to a responsible golf course attendant if asked. I do not believe it is my responsibility to inquire whether other golfers outside my group have paid their green fees or not. Whatever reason(s) golf course personnel decided to cancel my prepaid tee time and not allow "my group" to play, their assumptions/presumptions are incorrect. Their mishandling of this incident was unfair, unprofessional and embarrassing.

In closing, I feel its my obligation/responsibility to inform my friends, family and golf colleagues of the unprofessional way this incident was handled and to advise them to avoid golfing this course.

Great Value

Overall, great value! Issues are more about the ignorance of the golfers who don't repair ball marks on greens, divots etc. but greens were very good, fairways and traps good. Big negative is the food and pricing of it. This is a value course and I don't see where they get off with their very over inflated and very unvalued quality. No wonder I did not see one person eating there! Bring your own lunch and this is a very nice little course.
