Bright and early! Photo submitted by rlasorsa on 10/18/2020
Unplayable
Great track and layout. Back nine is scenic and the course is an excellent representation of Pete Dye’s design methodology.
Unfortunately the course design dictates accurate shots into elevated / undulating greens and since the greens were just redone they wont hold even a high lofted 56 degree wedge. In addition you are unable to play short to compensate for the enormous bounce because you must carry onto the greens in moat cases .
Its nice to see the beauty of the mountains and layout but playabily is a complete joke for low and high handicaps alike .
Furthermore they are still charging a hefty price for a course that is not playable . Lastly general conditioning is a B- formally an A+ course, (fairways, common areas and green speeds ).
Spend your money elsewhere there are just too many great courses in the area to waste your time here . Try back in 2-3 years
Hope this helps fellow golfers
Great course
Excellent shape , fairways , greens even sand traps ..
Mountain Course is beautiful!
The storm that rolled through on whole #7 was ominous yet satisfying. Greens and fairways are both in great condition. One up from the tips played a little long for me and the elevated fronts made it more challenging. Would have like to score better and probable would have from the Senior tees. I would recommend this trac to everyone. Stunning views on every hole. We will definitely be back to play the other side. The Starter and clubhouse crew were all very polite and accommodating.
Great course
This course was in great shape!! Everyone was so friendly. This course gets an A+ when it comes to me and would play it again in a heartbeat!! Greens were great tee boxes were amazing fairways kept up great and club house awesome!! Food afterwards was amazing in the club house I’ve been a resident of the valley for years and have never played this course but that will change ILL BE BACK!!
Very disappointing!
Had a wonderful experience here about 10 years ago which is why we came back. Course condition is incredibly poor, pace of play is terrible and staff service is poor. Absolutely not wort $200 a pop. $50 at best. A real shame to see such an iconic location so tired and run down.
Favorite Course to play
We love Playing this course. Beautiful, fair bit with enough difficulty for a challenge. People are all so nice.
We love to grab a bite on the patio but the kitchen closes much too early and so many times even when still open they tell you they are having a private event so they can’t prepare food. This course and setting warrant a reason to stay after your round to enjoy.
Poor value for the money.
We booked PGA West Dye Mountain Course as it was a special day for us deserving of a great golf experience. It was anything but. The course conditions were poor at best - and there was no marshall in sight to manage the slow play in front of us. Overall a very disappointing experience and poor value for the money.
Fairways were nice, greens had no stick and the bunkers were very hard (hardtop that make it very difficult to hit a proper sand shot out of it. Views were great and putting on the greens was challenging with all the undulations.
Poor value for the money.
We’ve always understood PGA tracks to be superior golf experiences. We booked PGA West, Dye Mountain, as it was a special day worthy of a great golf experience. Our experience was anything but special. We found the service less than adequate. The foursome in front of us included a child 3 to 4 years old riding with his father whom spent most of his time on the phone on business ignoring his child - and no marshall to keep their excessive slow play in check. The course was in surprisingly poor condition. Not good value for the money.
Bumpy and Greens were aerated (tines)
Practise green was smooth and fast....course greens were not.
Hit the greens.
Excellent fairways. Greens were nice but very firm. Very difficult greens to hit. Almost all surrounded by deep bunkers and steep slopes. Backs of greens are a bail out but leaves tough downhill chips.
Sharpen your short game.
Course was in great condition. Fairways were perfect and greens were good too. Almost every green was guarded by steep bunkers or steep drp offs on all sides. One criticism I had was that the greens were rock hard and didn’t hold iron shots very well resulting in a lot of hard bunker shots or chip shots up steep banks that made up and downs almost impossible.
