Beautiful course with lush mountains and valleys...very challenging for a 15 handicap. Lots of hidden fairways and Gulleys that are very intimidating.
I only lost 8 balls...could have been worse:)
Beautiful resort and less than expected course conditions.
The golf staff and restaurant servers are the best I have experienced anywhere in the world. This is a beautiful property. The resort is immaculate and is set in well kept gardens. The weather was sunny and perfect. This golf course layout is spectacular. There is much elevation on most holes with often small greens surrounded by many bunkers. If you stay in the wide fairway you will score well. This is a target golf layout where it is important to hit the landing area that may mean you use a club other than your driver off the tee. Pay attention to the GPS on the cart. You must pay attention to the slopes on the fairways and the surrounding hills that influence the path of your shot. The greens are small to average size that are true though lots of undulations. The greens were still recovering from the aerification a month earlier. Half of the greens showed winter damage. The fairways were mostly good condition with half showing thin conditions that may have been the result of the large amount of rain this season. May be better condition later in the season. it was a fun time.
Greens Punched - Overpriced
Little disappointed for the higher price. Greens need recovering and very bumpy and sandy still. If we knew that the birthday round would have been postponed. For the money we could have played a country club.
This course is poor
Course design chaotic, poor condition, pre and post golf very chaotic without assistance from Proshop
World Class Hospitality
The staff at this course and resort bend over backwards to make you feel taken care of. Course needs to dry out a bit more due to the recent rains but that it was really only the fairway on #13 that is still an issue. Greens were punched recently but I was playing well so didn't really care.
Fun Layout
This course has a great layout and is in good shape.
We played the day after the rain and it was cart path only and wet out but I will definitely come back.
Would be a great place to golf and hangout for some food and drinks after the round. They have a great patio with some live music playing.
Beautiful Course!
This was the first time I had golfed there and we had a great time! Course was wet due to recent rain, but it was a beautiful course. I would definitely play there again! The staff was courteous and had great attitudes and smiles - which only added to a great experience!
Below avg course, cart path only?
Course not in great shape and it wasn’t just the weather. No way a course of this quality should require cart path only. Unnecessarily slowed play when it wasn’t needed.
Unfortunate
This course needs to be restored badly. It’s been destroyed by development. Soule Park is better

Good day. Outstanding facilities and very warm and helpful staff. The assistance with our luggage and the friendliness of the staff at Jimmy’s were very much appreciated. Mark W at the golf course was incredibly nice and accommodating, as always! We will certainly be back! Thank you so much
Spencer and the staff at Ojai were just phenomenal!!
Save some cash and head to Soule Park
I've played Ojai Valley Inn a few of times now and likely won't be back unless it's a free round.
There is never notice of cart path only, if I'll be starting on 1st or 10th tee, or partial closure of any holes (18 in particular seems to always be partially closed and requires using the front tees).
This last time around there was another group that was somehow booked for the exact same tee time. I'm sure that one of us was supposed to tee off on the 10th hole, but who wants that? We ended up sorting out the situation ourselves as no starter was around.
There is also never a marshal that goes around to monitor pace of play. I get that this is a world class resort so they likely don't want to make their guests feel rushed, but expect a 5+ hour round here.
The course itself is in amazing condition, but forgettable in layout. The front 9 are the highlight with the back 9 weaving in and out around the hotel property.
If you're really looking for the best golf in Ojai then I highly suggest Soule Park. Conditions are just as nice, better course layout, and a fraction of the cost.
Shame what they are doing to this course
Ojai is a wonderful old track. They have ruined the superb finishing hole, by building some sort of spa building in the line of play.
The greens are fine, but the fairway conditions are very poor. Not much grass in a lot of places!
