Waste of money

They are repairing many holes. Only 9 holes are available. This should be disclosed.

Same 9 twice

The current configuration, where you play the same 9 holes twice is alright, but not like playing the full course. The people were great and the course was in good shape. I just wish I could have seen all of it.

9 holes twice!

Was pretty disappointed to get there just to find out that I could not play a full 9 holes. The cost of the hot deal was not enough to make up for the fact that we had to play the same 9 holes twice. The holes we played were in good condition, I just wish I could have played it in full or been given a more comparable price.

Not Legendary

We thought we were going to play La Costa. We played an abbreviated nine hole course twice. The course is in nice shape, but it was not what we thought we had signed up for. A disappointment.

Had a great time playing The Legends Course at La Costa using the golf boards.

Layout was no good

Legends course apparently had bridges wash out about 3 months ago. We were relegated to only play holes 2,3,4,5,7,12,16.17, + 9 which was confounding. We saw no progress toward fixing anything. Disappointing for the money.

The course is not fully open.

The Legends course is a mess. You play the same holes twice and in no order. There are various holes they have assigned and although well marked, it is a weird way to play golf. Plus the whole play the same 9 holes to combine for 18. Although it was my fault for not reading the fine print on that until the day we played. Here's the thing... this system would have been fine at a cost of 60.00 or so. Not 135.00. The staff though was very, very friendly and very nice.

Closed down half the course, charged full price

I’m livid that I paid a premium for a golf round just to show up and find the course in the worst shape in all of San Diego.

Dissatisfied

We played 2-7, 12. A modified version of hole 16 and 17. Teeing off from the fairway on hole 16. Then repeated to make 18 holes. Very frustrating since I didn’t find out about this setup until after I bought the round. Cost $104.

Very disappointing

9 Hole lame loop

The course was cut down to a 9 hole loop for full price. And even with a 9 hole loop 2 holes were closed.

Great Course

The course was not in as good of shape due to damage from a storm in April. They had holes changed around and to play 18 holes you had to do the first 9 holes again. Had I known this, I probably wouldn't have booked it, particularly since the rate was not discounted. Nothing noted on the Golfnow website about the current condition.

Always read the fine print!

Legends "loop".. No way to keep a proper score, therefore, not even worthwhile. You play a hole, skip 2 holes, play 2 holes, skip some more. Tee boxes are in horrendous shape. A Par 5 has been shortened to a Par 3 - that's right, tee off on a slant in the middle of the fairway. I LEFT TO GO PLAY AVIARA rather than finishing the so-called "front 9." Worst part is having to pay full price for less than full course. DO NOT RECOMMEND!

Champions

How can you not book La Costa for $50? Only comes around once in a great while. Rain last night, but was beautiful all day. Hard course no matter what weather. Pros played here for years. Tiger won three times. As fast as the greens were, can't imagine putting on them when the tour came through. Had a great time, used valet and didn't worry. Will be back.

Fun course to play!

I guess people are used to playing like Augusta or something, so many bad reviews I saw before playing this course for the first time. For being a 6 handicapper I really enjoyed it here at the Legands Course.

Pros: super friendly staff, they people just outside the pro shop are really helpful. I’m not one for riding carts but they have new super comfortable carts with gps, and a cooler (they give you ice in it). Also they hand you free range balls! I don’t like hitting from mats but hey free is free. The greens roll really nice and most of the fairways are in good shape too.

Cons: I would see why people nag of course conditions a bit but it’s really not that bad at all, yes some tee boxes aren’t the best and some dry patches here or there but let’s get real, golf is for fun if you nit pick every detail it’s usually because your having one of those days and want to find something to blame. Lastly, pace of play was a bit slow toward the end of our round (went from +2 after 11 to +6 the next 4 holes) but hey it gets slow sometimes any public course you play.

Overall: I would definitely come back here again. I paid 75$ to play and for everything you get I would say that’s about right. People get tunnel vision I think when they play because they remember that one time they played like TPC blank or Pebble Beach.... this is not one of those courses but if you looking for a fun unique course layout I would recommend this place.

Legends course

Course is in terrible condition overall. This is on par with a bad municiple public course. Fair price to play would probably be about $40 Some t boxes are as much dirt as grass, if you are off the fairway there's not much rough, just a weed field. Greens are in good shape. Overall very disappointed. Definitely not worth the money
