Worst conditions ever
Course should have been closed. Would have had better conditions dropping a ball in the middle of the desert & hitting from one tall cactus to another.
Online warning said they were closing 3 holes in the next few days & would only play 15 holes. How I, the days before when I booked we would have all 18. Wrong. 7 holes were effectively desert & the conditions on the rest terrible. Would not recommend even checking out for a year or two to see if they rebuild well.
Wash out
I have played this course before. It is beautiful. BUT the south is the really only playable 9. So had to play south twice. We should have been notified before booking the north was washed out.
Course being repaired
Course should have advised that major repairs were being made to the back nine.
First
We were put out on south/north and really enjoyed south but north was a mess and not much fun. Many holes chopped up with renovations. F
North course should not be open
We were booked on the south/north courses. The south course was fine and we were enjoying the round until the turn. The north course is a construction site and should not be offered to guests unless there is a heavily discounted price and they are made aware of the atrocious conditions. Many fairways were mud, greens were poor and several holes were shortened due to unplayable conditions. I suspect the north course is provided to out of town guests because locals would know not to book it.
No snack and beverage carts on the course
The course is hard to find. The entry off Monterey is only available to residents and, again, out of towers would be unnecessarily delayed by having to be rerouted.
Shameless
First off, starter didn’t give us any details on course conditions and no direction at all. We were our own from the first tee. South course was in good shape other than very slow and somewhat bumpy greens. Second, the north course, half of the holes are in terrible condition due to the storms they had. I would have played south course twice rather than trying to play north course. Hole 1 was down to par 3 from par 5 and temporary tee box was so bad that didn’t know where to tee off. Half of the fair way was sand and dirt, blind shots to dirt and can find a ball. It wasn’t playable at all. Third, shame on teeoff and Rancho Las palmas to charging golfers to pay here.
Senior couple player
The course was terrible conditions, many holes were under construction, just wasting money. We wouldn’t come back again.
2 canadiens and a Norwegian
Front nine was great. Back nine had storm damage so a couple of holes were difficult to play. Very nice staff and lunch was perfect.
Storm damage and repair on 3-4 holes
3-4 holes under construction or temporary status due to recent storm damage. Also, black tees were not in play. Thus, longest course setup was 6,000 yards.
Great course and super friendly staff
Course is a bit dinged up from the hurricane winds and the holes that go over the storm control are washed out. They are repairing the damage but it's in bad shape. I'd definitly play it again.
Would not play until after North nine repairs.
Storms washed mud into the middle of four of the holes creating a barely playable situation until repairs are done and grass is planted.
Bad value - poor condition
Played South/North Oct 20. The South 9 was in decent condition with greens not fast by any means. The North 9 sucked. First hole par 5 was turned into a par 3 teeing from the middle of a construction zone. 2 more holes that crossed through the valley were also temp tees. The problem was a storm a month or so ago took the course out. That said, don't be charging $99 to play then. Also, no driving range or putting green. Big disappointment. I have played the course a few times over the years. Will not be going back.
Stay Away - I’m serious.
I am sorry to have to write this review as normally I can find something good about any course… This is the exception.
First, access to the course is through a manned guard gate and there wasn’t anyone there. Waited five minutes before a resident let me in.
Once at the course the pro shop staff were reluctant to tell me about the course condition. Nine of their 27 holes are closed due to floods that happened earlier this year and four of the remaining 18 have been severely impacted which shorten the course and make you play through large waste areas.
The driving range has also been destroyed by the flooding and you’re reduced to hitting off mats into a cage. And yes, there’s more…. The practice green was closed and I was actually directed to practice putting on the ninth green of the course lol. Oh, the starter did say that I should move off the green if people were coming up the freeway. Pro tip lol. No drink cart or water on the course and there were gnats everywhere.
Overall, this is one of the worst experiences I’ve had ever in the Coachella Valley in the 30yrs I’ve been coming here. Save your $100, go to the pool, enjoy a beverage, and put that money towards a good course.
Stay away… for now
Played the north and south course. Started on south. It was fine. Couple of holes were poorly kept but should be ready in next few weeks. Just soaked because of floods but playable.
Then went to north…. Oh boy. This was amateur hour. Hole one par 5 is converted to a garbage par 3. Three more holes of the north course are similar and not really playable. No warning
about how horrible the conditions are. It’s a complete joke. When there are so many other good options around, save yourself the time and money.
North course should be closed!
South course was in good shape if you kept it in the fairway. Just off and your lucky to find your ball because the rough was deep & thick! The North course should be closed! It was a joke! They weren't even mowing the fairways! I legit lost a ball and it was dead center. They had a storm a couple months ago and it ruined 4 holes that should in no way be open. The course has a nice layout but what are they doing staying open on the north course??
Under construction
I enjoyed the first 9 holes. But the North course is totally under construction (assume from the flooding) and very difficult to navigate, tee boxes hard to find, no restrooms. The price is a bit steep considering how much the course is torn up. If you're lucky enough to not play the North course during your 18, then would think a totally different story.
Don’t play
The course had a lot of water damage from the hurricane Hillary. The course was basically unplayable. We had to pick up our balls and move them out of the mud.
IT’s aweful don’t play the course
