What a view Photo submitted by lross5033 on 03/24/2013
Great views, nice layout, high price.
This course is situated beautifully on the Pacific Coast, with the ocean visible from most of the course and several holes dramatically placed with the ocean as a backdrop.
The layout is good. There are only a couple of sort of tricky holes due to the terrain. The condition is good, but not perfect. And there is the rub. For the high green fee I expect "Pristine" conditions.
The course is worth playing just for the views, but the price is out of line with the condition of the course. Glenannie Golf Club, a few miles away, is less expensive, in better condition, but does not have the great ocean views.
Great golf experience. Glad to have finally played.
I learned about this course from a golf buddy in college. Its taken me 15 years to finally play it, but I'm glad I did. Course was in fine shape tee to green, with other areas pretty rough.
I don't play very often anymore, so this was a treat. Great atmosphere, scenery, driving range preloaded with balls for warm up. Would definitely come back next time in Santa Barbara.
Undulating course with beautiful views of the ocean.
A fun course to play. Greens slope from back to front and can be pretty fast. Hole #11 is a breathtaking par 3 that drops 100 feet down to the beach. Will definitely play again if I can get another great deal ($60 for 6:50AM tee time).
A True Top of the Line Coastal Course
I've played Torrey Pines South, Pebble Beach, The Plantation Course at Kapalua Maui, and The Prince Course in Kauai; Sandpiper has holes that remind me of each. There are some great holes and a good mix of challenging holes and straight forward holes. Many times tough courses have holes where you need a caddy to know where to aim, which drives me insane. Sandpiper only has one hole like that (#12, which I didn't care for). The fairways and greens were in great condition.
My wife went along and I hate the rider fee, especially when I went out as a single. I would think they could wave that fee in that case. It's not like I was part of a foursome and needed a third cart. Other than that annoyance (although it was expected as it is on their website), I really enjoyed the course and the staff is very friendly. A great taste of the best coast courses in the world right in Southern California.
Nicest course I've played in a long time
What a beautiful course. It's got some long holes (7200 yards from the tips) but makes it challenging. Views of the ocean from almost every hole. Look forward to playing again.
A must play venue.
All I can say is WOW!! Outstanding course even with the greens being punched and sanded. Super friendly staff I have played Torrey Pines and it rates better in all area. Just saying. .
Aeration deal of $40 so can't complain
Great day, cold and dreary day, but on a warm day we could tell the view is fantastic. Back 9 was closed, so only played front 9. Front 9 not too pretty. Kids juniors were behind us, so it's nice to see a course that supports our up and coming players! They rocked their swings too! With the greens punched, it was almost impossible to play. But for $40 bucks, we had nothing to complain about. Introduced us to wanting to play again if the weather and course conditions are normal. Nice starter guy! Funny guy in the golf shop. Bathrooms could use a good cleaning. A bit dirty in the womens restroom stalls. Especially the inside stall doors. The floor in the stalls are very dirty. Would love coolers on the carts.
Great Round
Beautiful course, great staff, a little windy. Course was in great condition for February.
Great course!!
Course is in good shape... Greens are super fast! I played it with some buddies and they hyped up the course! Boy did it live up to the hype! Awesome views and a very fair course! I would suggest everybody that has the chance to play this def should! Staff is very friendly also! Good times!
Beautiful Course along the Course
The course was beautiful and we played at our own pace. It is challenging but I would definitely like to come back and play this course again.
Good course, great views.
Course was in great shape, greens were rolling really well, except for ball-marks that evidently are not in vogue to repair. Had a very pleasant round. Weather was great, play was less than 4 hours.
ocean view
it's in between bajamar and pebble beach.
The price is also in the middle.
Course was in good shape, and the pace of play was great after we played through a very slow foursome.
We would recommend that management play closer attention to the maintenance of their non-golf facilities. The restrooms needed a good cleaning and the restaurant seemed shabby. We were surprised at the lack of maintenance on the non-golf areas.
looking a bit wintry this week but the greens are rolling how I imagine they do on the pro tour.
played as a single first off the tee in the morning on a thursday. played it under 3 hours. played it again at 1015am and picked up a single around hole 6. closer to 4 hours due to people ahead of us. I love the track. looks a bit rough right now but it still plays great. greens are not joking around. good luck staying below the pin. all greens slope back to front.
Overpriced
Course had excellent views of the ocean and a nice layout - but not worth the $155.00 w/cart - I thought golf now was supposed to offer discounts - SANDPIPER's discount was the regular price - not even a senior discount.......
