The Resort at Pelican Hill
About The Resort at Pelican Hill
The Resort at Pelican Hill is one of SoCal's trendiest getaways, whether it's for golf or to unwind. The resort takes inspiration from the 16th century Italian architect Andrea Palladio. Each one-story bungalow guest room or suite features its own limestone fireplace, private terrace and marble bath. The 2- to 4-bedroom villas are secluded within their own gated community. Guests can lounge at the Coliseum pool and spa or shuttle to the Crystal Cove beach. Tom Fazio's North and South courses both kiss the Pacific Ocean with outstanding views throughout the round. Six restaurants will tempt your appetite.Facts

Enjoyed Pelican Hill South
I played the course when on vacation. I played with two locals who knew the course. The course was in great shape and the layout was awesome. The signature hole #13 along the ocean was awesome. The fairways were contoured such that most shots slightly off line were funneled back into the fairway. Nice amenities (range, locker rooms, etc) and staff was friendly and helpful. The course is pricey but was more reasonable with a twilight rate. I enjoyed the round.
Excellent day of Golf
Liked this course, good layout and in great shape.
Fairways Need Help
Beautiful course, Greens were spectacular but tough. 9 and 18 are some of the toughest holes you can find. The Fairway conditions were mostly poor, please improve this area - too expensive to have your ball land in divots at 8:40am
Always my favorite course
Perfect weather, fun playing buddies. Nothing beats those.
Pacific Coast Gem
One of the finest golf resorts I have ever played. They have dynamic pricing, so it could be had at a good rate. Course is very picturesque and challenging. The clubhouse is 5 star with friendly staff, good food and drink offerings, and unbelievable views of the ocean.
Better than expected
Was in town for work and finally able to play this course. I was blown away with both the views and the architecture of the course. Course is pretty open and overly long but the greens were some of the fastest and tougher I have played. I would play it over Torrey Pines anyday of the week…
Good. Not stellar by any means.
The Pelican Hill experience was in general a good experience. The golf course was unfortunately the least quality of the amenities that are at the resort.
Course review: Overall the course was in good condition. Like a 6 out of 10 good. The greens had some pace to them but goodness did they footprint up badly. Being only the second or third tee time out I was very surprised at how many footprints were left by the previous groups.
Bunkers, don’t be fooled by the ones you can see from the resort with the nice white sand. Those holes are the only ones with that sand. The remainder of the course were not maintained well and the sand was more like a dirt sand mix. You can tell the sand is not a priority for the maintenance staff.
Fairways: Seems like they mow half of the fairway on each hole toward the tee and half toward the green. This makes the grass on one side of the fairway lean toward the tee and one side lean toward the green. If you are in the fairway in the side mown toward the green you’re fine and can play a normal shot. If you are in the other side however, if you take any divot at all, the club stands the grass up and you hit a lot of chunky shots. Kind of stupid if you ask me.
The rough was fine. If you’re in it you can play out. It’s thick but hey, your fault for hitting it in there.
Tees. Several complexes under repair. Very disappointed here. I play the tips and several were closed. Condition on others was ok. Not pristine by any means.
Views were great. But don’t be fooled by the photos you see. You are not playing along the ocean - there are neighborhoods between the ocean and the golf course (North) sits above them. The South course comes closer but it’s no where near the golf course the North is.
All in all: Had fun, course OK but just OK, clubhouse, staff and surroundings were A+. But I went there for an A+ golfing experience….didn’t get that at all. But it was not the people or the retort. It was the course that I found, just meh.
Price: NOT AT ALL A $450+ GOLF COURSE! I could see $250 but NOT $450. No way.
The most miserable fun I have had playing golf
The course was great. Played with some very nice people but golf etiquette was very bad. The three I played with was a family that wanted to hit another ball after a bad shot. Mother and son never played a full 18 holes in their life. I felt like I held the whole course up. Spending 340.00 for a round wouldn’t ever thought beginners would pay that to play. Course though was amazing.
Loved it!!
Really awesome course had a great time. Pace of play was alright compared to many other places started at 3:15 and finished right at dark. Got paired up with an awesome guy from Detroit who made the round fun.
Best course in the area!
North course has some challenging holes and is fun to play. The pace is good and green is perfect but challenging. Always my favorite course to play if the price is right.
Great view
I been with my mother
We’re great time because great course and view
INCREDIBLE COURSE
The course is filled with beauty! It is a long difficult course. The staff was great. Can’t wait to return.
