Can’t beat the views
Blown away by the scenery of this course. It’s was pricey and maybe not in the most immaculate condition for the price but wouldn’t change the trip ! Pace of play was super great for a busy Saturday
Decent Track But Overpriced
Overall a good course but not worth the $100 they ask for tee times. You also have to pay a $20 park entry fee. Some of the greens had some bald spots on them.
Slow slow play.
4:45 minutes even after we played thru one hole on the back. Miserable.
Slowest Round
Nice course but no marshals out there which makes for unbearable slow round. Lots of hackers on the course with no golf etiquette. Marshalls could resolve that.
Fair overall at best
Great staff, beautiful scenery and great course layout but definitely not worth the high rates and long wait times at each tee box. Conditions should be much better if they’re charging that much, and pace of play should be monitored a lot better. We waited at each tee box a minimum of 10-15 minutes before we could even tee off. Our round ended up taking 5 hours and that’s without stopping at all after the first 9 holes. Played here a couple years ago and the course was in great shape and we didn’t get slowed down on any hole. Must be new ownership or something.. Hopefully improvements are soon to come.
Course is in poor condition May ‘23
See photos and judge for yourself whether the greens fee being asked is fair
Lakemont is Beautiful
Lakemont and Stonemont courses are beautiful. Playing Lakemont on 5/23/2023 after some significant rain made some playing conditions less than ideal. The greens had not been cut and there were quite a few with some bare spots that made the ball bounce in random directions. I'm sure that will be addressed and they will be returned to their normal smooth and consistent behavior. Some casual water was present in fairways and the bunkers were compacted and not yet raked. Still, with all those things I would recommend the course for it's shot making layout, elevation changes, and scenic beauty.
Over Priced
The people that work there are very nice but this course is not well maintained for the green fees they are charging.
Not worth $100 and $20 parking
Greens and fairways are in very poor condition . Most of the greens are very poor , thin grass or just plain sand on the green . I’m not sure what’s happened cause I’ve played this course in the past and it’s sad to see it’s gotten so bad . Staff is great but playing conditions are at all time low .
Too much $
I really liked the course. The winter this past year was tough and greens/fairway is not top notch which is understandable. I don’t think that whoever is reviewing/approving pricing understands that though. The play was very difficult in many areas. Bunkers was not kept up as well. Additionally the pace was extremely slow. Waited in every hole after we got past #4.
Would play again for the right price. $80 is just too much right now for this course. Needs some work.
Not what it once was. I Do Not Recommend.
I have played here several times over the years in tournaments but this place has gone down hill. Firstly, be advised that you will be required to pay $20 at the gate to park at the golf course. This is purely a money grab. The putting green is at the clubhouse instead of being at the practice area, which is a 5 min ride away. Suggest putting first before heading to range. Range balls were really in bad shape. Range itself was in fair shape. On course the greens were in fair condition with some bald spots or invasive grasses growing in. By far the worst aspect of the course were the bunkers. They are in the worst kind of shape I have ever seen..even worse than some municipal courses in Atlanta. This place used to be really nice but it is so bad now it is not worth the fee. The parking charge is just salt in the wound. Avoid this place and play any of the other good courses in the area.
Incredibly disappointing
A friend of mine flew in from Houston to play several rounds of golf. I chose The Lakemont course because the Stone Mountain courses were typically in good shape - especially for the green fees you pay. Most of the fairways were in very poor shape and most of the greens were not puttable!! And they punched them over a month ago and we have had plenty of rain! Terrible conditions to add to a 5+ hour round of golf!! Incredibly disappointing!! Won’t be coming back anytime soon!
Overwhelmingly Poor!!
I had heard so many good things about the Stone Mountain courses, I booked a round for the Lakemont Course to play when a buddy flew in from Houston. The fairways were in terrible condition! Most of the greens were not even puttable! It took well over 5 hours to play in those poor conditions!! And it cost over $75 for that forgettable round of golf!! Will not be playing it again until significant improvements are made to the quality of the course and pace of play!
Not bad
Had high hopes but overall it was pretty average. Addressing the rough spots on the fairways and greens would go a long way to making this love up to the pictures.
