Incredibly disappointing
A friend of mine flew in from Houston to play several rounds of golf. I chose The Lakemont course because the Stone Mountain courses were typically in good shape - especially for the green fees you pay. Most of the fairways were in very poor shape and most of the greens were not puttable!! And they punched them over a month ago and we have had plenty of rain! Terrible conditions to add to a 5+ hour round of golf!! Incredibly disappointing!! Won’t be coming back anytime soon!
Overwhelmingly Poor!!
I had heard so many good things about the Stone Mountain courses, I booked a round for the Lakemont Course to play when a buddy flew in from Houston. The fairways were in terrible condition! Most of the greens were not even puttable! It took well over 5 hours to play in those poor conditions!! And it cost over $75 for that forgettable round of golf!! Will not be playing it again until significant improvements are made to the quality of the course and pace of play!
Not bad
Had high hopes but overall it was pretty average. Addressing the rough spots on the fairways and greens would go a long way to making this love up to the pictures.
Nearing perfection
Terrific landscape architecture, fairway grass emerging and softening, greens large and tough to read but in good shape.
Beautiful land. Poorly managed golf course
I’m not one to leave bad reviews, but I just had to warn fellow golfers about this place. Seems like an extremely “touristy” golf course. Way too many people playing so pace was ridiculous. They didn’t even have any golf carts available for a long time so we had to wait. Extremely overpriced. Should honestly cost about $40 max on a weekend with how poor of shape it’s in. It has so much potential because it’s on a pretty lake and winds through beautiful hilly land. I hope somebody comes along and takes better management over the golf courses.
Friendly staff and very helpful
The course layout is great. The staffs were amazing.. sadly just the cost condition needs LTC, some tee area really rough... Green is a bit bumpy and different speeds... Overall. Could be better... I wouldn't rush back. Especially you have to pay extra $20 for get in the mountains area before the course
Good layout. Overpriced for the condition of the couse
Very friendly staff. Hard to justify $80 for the conditions though.
Never worked this hard to leave a golf course...
The layout of this course is fantastic. The conditions of the fairways & greens was less than desired but the layout & amenities compensate. The one issue i have is the lack of communication between the Gate & Golf Course. We used a Ride-Share to get to the course, thus had to pay the front gate $5 just to get dropped off at the bag drop. Then when we ordered the Ride-Share to get out they would not let the driver through without paying $5 and they wouldn't let me pay it when we left. It was shocking how bad that gate needed another $5 and how little common sense played a role. The Gate attendant was a complete ^$$ and i wouldn't go back for that very reason. Loved the course & staff, the Gate fiasco was enough for me to advise all to find another place to place.
Greens were in terrible condition, fairways dry and hardly any grass. For $115 a round our party was very disappointed after traveling from MN, WI and OK to play. Course living off its history.
Greens are terrible
The location of the course and scenery is beautiful, but it is terribly maintained. The greens were awful. The ball would bounce the whole way. The tee boxes were also totally destroyed. I play municipal courses that are way better than these greens were. Disappointed for how much we paid.
Morning at the Lake
Had the second tee time of the day. Still was over four and half hours. Greens appears to have been just sanded. Some of the tee boxes had seen better days.
Challenging course and would play again but it’s hard to justify over $100 for slow play, poorly ranked bunkers, cones in the middle of fairways, and tee boxes there were the right handed dugout from little league.
Certainly has the bones to be great.
Like
We enjoy playing this challenging course. We paid a lot to play but the course conditions really didn’t deliver. It almost was municipal conditions. It didn’t prevent my son and I enjoying round and what it is all about.
Good course, horrible condition for price
Played this course 2 weeks ago, called ahead to make sure greens would be good for close to 100 dollars. Having played here before I was extremely disapointed in the conditions. The greens were not in good condition at all and at times it seemed it had a sand trap in the middle of the greens. Will not be coming back at this price point, would be paid 35
