This course is scenic and challenging. The front and back offer different lies and elevations.
Course was in excellent condition. The staff was very friendly and they are doing a great job with the entire facility. For a busy day play moved well.
great, excellent course, great price!!!!
great, excellent course, well maintain, must play, beautiful views, great price!!!!
Great layout on the front. The back was fine but a little less than the front.
Course wasn't busy and was semi well maintained.
Some fairways were spotty on the front in the shaded areas.
Traps hadn't been raked and lots of deer tracks in them.
Greens were in good shape, medium speed and putted true.
Lots of two and three tear greens. Fairways were mostly plush and mowed. The rough was tall and thick.
My foursome had a great time and will return. It's the kind of course you have to play a couple times to get a feel for it.
Challenging course
Me and two other co-workers played Rocky Gap on a nice Thursday afternoon. The course was very soggy and in rough shape compared to when we were there in April. It has gone downhill since then very much. For all three of us being novice golfers the course is very challenging. I'm glad we were able to find this tee-time through golfnow.com because it is not worth anywhere close to what they charge regularly with the condition that it is in.
Alternative to Casino
Rocky gap now has a casino, but I find the golf a lot more relaxing and less costly!
The course is interesting and well maintained. For some reason the pro shop let several singles start individual (vs pairing them). The pace of play was ridiculously slow given the few players actually on the course.
Top notch layout in beautiful setting
Lots of elevation changes, and a mix of open fairways with tight doglegs. Their are some great holes on this course that are very memorable and provide outstanding views. The course has some water damage in the fairways, which is understandable considering the record amount of rain we have had this summer. I play golf at courses around the country and would put this on a must play list.
Scenic, a fair challenge
My husband (low HC) and I (high HC) both really enjoyed the variety, degree of difficulty and scenic beauty of this course. While the greens were in very good shape (except for some players' unrepaired pitch marks), the fairways are suffering from some kind of turf disease or fungus. There needs to be better signage directing players to the range and 1st and 10th holes. We played as a twosome and occasionally ran into backups but still finished in a little over 4 hours. We would definitely play it again, if given a chance..
Nice course to play
Course is a good course to play, but fairways need some work. Staff was great and got my group off early. Work play again.
Good golfing experience
It's a very nice golf course. It is happened to be a busy day.
Had to wait on the first nine until another two some joined us.
Overall. a great golfing experience. Will definitely return.
Good Price for the course
Good price course was not too busy.
Arrived about 1/2 hour early and went out no problem.
Friendly staff both in club house and on the course.
2 Hr drive and a nice place to stay!
Jack Nicklaus signature course and some great second shots to the greens. Will play again I am sure with the wife using the casino while I am golfing!
Great course and the staff were fantastic, there was only one very small issue,
Great course and the staff was fantastic. We played on a very hot day with little breeze so we tried to keep moving as much as possible. The small exception were little "gnats" that were all over the course. A real nice ranger let us use his bug spray however that only helped for 30 seconds. Really there's not much anyone can do about these pests, Even with that, we enjoyed the course and staff.."First class all the way."
Great course - good fairways - deep rough -nice greens.
The course was soaked and it was cart path only. My wife and I still enjoyed it even though there was no roll. This is a must play course - extremely difficult - like most Nicklaus designs. This is a beautiful mountain course with lots of elevation changes.
Great course at a great price through Golfnow
Played this course many times but never at the reduced rate that we received through Golfnow. If we continue to see these rates we will book a trip at least once a week through Golfnow.
I will definately pass this information onto all my golfing friends. Thanks to Golfnow for providing great rates to play golf.
Great golf course
Even though it had rained a lot the day before, the course was in great condition.
One of my favorites at a GolfNow price
Have played here many times, but never at the rate on GolfNow. Course is in fabulous condition, greens a little slow, due to lots of recent rain. Front nine very tight, with a more open back nine. Rocky Gap now has a small casino, which should get more players on the course. An excellent value on golf now. Rack rate was $60, played for $22.
Great course and fantastic surrounding view !!!
We're really had a great time. Only problem was little bit of rainy weather. Course lay out was really great and some hole's very challenge. Not too many boring hole's was there.
We're looking forward to go back out play one more time.
Great Course and Staff
If your a above average player and want to be challenged. Play this from the tips and you shall be very challenged... Long Par 4 number 2 is like hittting a drive down a hallway..
You will enjoy this track.. All grass practice tees and at 3 bucks for a small bucket its a great facility..
The grill afterwards is nice also with some huge Tv's... And the drinks and beer is extremely well priced...
Nice course, but very hilly.
Pretty course with the lake in the background. Well maintained and interesting. Few level lies.
Great course, great day, tough rough
Beautiful day of golf. Fairways were in great shape. Rough was tough. Many lost balls just right off of rough. Greens were well manicured, but slow which isn't necessarily bad for the average golfer like me. Views were incredible. Some good challenging holes mixed with some that were a break. Casino after golf was another bonus.
