Nebraska Golf Resorts

The Lodge at The Prairie Club houses 31 guest rooms, a pro shop, a members lounge, a restaurant/bar and more.

It’s only in the 2010s that Nebraska has gotten into the golf travel game by opening up a foursome of resorts. The most famous is The Prairie Club, the three-course outpost in Valentine that opened in 2010, piggy-backing off the success of Sand Hills, the Bill Coore and Ben Crewshaw design that ushered in the modern age of architecture. Two of the resorts are actually golf clubs that have expanded to include stay-and-play accommodations onsite – Bayside Golf Club in Brule and Wild Horse in Gothenburg. The new Ohiya Casino & Lodge debuted in 2013 and added the Tatanka Golf Club in 2015.

The Prairie Club along the Snake River Canyon in Valentine was founded by Paul Schrock as one of the Midwest’s first remote destination golf clubs. The resort is five-plus hours from major airports in Denver and Omaha, but well worth the journey to discover two top 100 golf courses, The Dunes by Tom Lehman and Pines by Graham Marsh. Both are…
    Homer, Nebraska
Landmand Golf Club debuted in 2022 in Homer, Nebraska, to rave reviews. The course offers on-site cabins for those who want to stay the night, explore the area and get in multiple rounds. The origin of the Ohiya Casino & Resort in Niobrara dates back more than two decades when it opened as the first casino in Nebraska. Ohiya, owned by the Santee Sioux Nation of Nebraska, built a new 61,000-square-foot casino that opened in 2013, featuring 400 electronic-gaming machines, bingo, a 45-room hotel, a concert/events center, a swimming…
    Gothenburg, Nebraska
The Wild Horse Golf Club in Gothenburg has earned a reputation as one of the best value or bargain rounds in golf. The 6,955-yard course, designed by Dan Axland and Dave Proctor, has landed on Top 100 lists a handful of times since debuting in 1998. It delivers a quintessential “Cornhusker” experience, roaming through open fields surrounded by…
    Brule, Nebraska
The rugged, natural Bayside Golf Club in Brule was designed by Dan Axland and Dave Proctor, opening the front nine in 1999, followed by a true grand opening celebration in 2001. The course’s accommodations were added as the property matured. All of the lodging sports views of the course and Lake McConaughy, the state’s largest lake. Accommodations…
