Play SawMill w/o wind is nice
Course in great condition, but my game has declined so much that Sawmill plays long, especially the par3s. I can tell Cedar Fair is putting money into the course, improving drainage, especially #12&13. Huge greens, so a 3putt is a given ......otherwise fun layout.
Clubhouse is being remodeled, staff is awesome (especially mgr Abby), and fun day with random pairing.
Hot July Afternoon @ Sawmill
Course in great shape & holes 12&13 recovered from last week's flooding. The Hallway Hole #12 is still the toughest par 5 for this old guy. The wind was mild this hot 90* afternoon, but no excuse for 4 or 5 3putts. Staff (Abby & Sean) is awesome & GolfNow provides great Hot Deals, so hopefully that continues with the Cedar Point ownership.
Swamp
I used to recommend this course to everyone. That will stop now. Their drainage system is a disaster. Standing water on most every hole after at least 2 days without heavy rain. They built a wall of dirt last year on number 12 but apparently not high enough. There were balls in the fairway you couldn't even reach with a ball retriever because the "puddles" were so large. I've seen a few courses reinvesting the windfall profits they have been enjoying since the pandemic but Sawmill is not one of them. Very sad.
Horrible experience with a staff member
I used the bathrooms that unknowingly were only for marina guests. When I came out of the restroom a course worker was in a golf cart next to my husband's golf cart. He told me that the bathroom was only for marina guests. I, thinking he was joking, old him that I had a boat, but it was in Saundusky, He looked at me, drove past me in his cart and said "Don't do it again". I will never golf there again. and will certainly NOT recommend this course to any of my fellow golfers.

Great place to play
I’ve played Sawmill several times this year and each time the course has been in great shape. The course layout is a big time challenge but they have multiple tee boxes to make it fair for anyone. The greens are fast and true, but not easy. To me, sawmill is by far the best public course in Erie County.
A good course for all levels
Sawmill Creek is a good course. The course has 4 tee boxes providing that truly differ in length. The course has open holes and tight holes. So the big hitters can have fun as well as the crafty precision golfers. The greens are fast, and have breaks. Don't be above the hole.
Sawmill Creek
Pro shop is being remodeled. Course is in decent shape. Greens roll well. Pace of play was a problem. Course not busy but a twosome backed up 5 groups behind them. Saw a marshal but obviously he’s for show.
Sawmill
Fairways and greens are money. Wet today but nobody to blame for that it happens but greens rolled true and fairly fast. Played from the blue tee’s. Not just Sawmill but many courses maybe don’t look back there enough. Par 3 5th has a tree that is just right there taking out any sort of draw. Must actually cut it and playing from there it’s 158 yards. Not the club for shot shaping. But other that it’s worth the trip and day to check it out
Good deal
For the hot deal price it’s a better course than all others at that price. Pro shop and restaurant closed which dampens things. Went out after a big rain storm and had to play the front twice. The back is a bit more engaging. Course is close to my home and is difficult and I hope to continue to play it once every couple weeks.
Hard work paying off
Sawmill Creek’s conditions were the best I’ve seen in a decade. They’ve always had the best golf course layout in Erie County, and now the conditions are on par with the course. Well done.
The course needs a great future
My review is difficult, because I really like the course design and the people. The problem I found was the water issues, even if it dries up there is so much damage to the course that is needs to have several holes over hauled. The greens are top notch, that isn't the problem. The clubhouse and eat in area needs to be upgraded, and the patio is fantastic with a great view. So, the hard part of this review is that it takes money to fix and repair the areas that I described and once that is done it will be a great course again. I have played there for over thirty years and it has deteriated... Thanks
