Oklahoma Golf Resorts
Oklahoma might not be well-known for its golf beyond a few major championship sites and Oklahoma State University’s dominant men’s program, but it does offer some fine resorts. The state’s golf resort scene is dominated by tribal casino resorts, headlined by the WinStar World Casino and Resort in Thackerville near the Texas border. The 36-hole resort is the largest casino in the world. Not to be overlooked are the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tulsa, a AAA Four-Diamond property with the classic Perry Maxwell-designed Cherokee Hills, and the Downstream Casino Resort owned by the Quapaw Nation of Oklahoma. Its course, Eagle Creek, is across state lines in Joplin, Mo. The Falconhead Resort & Country Club has history on its side, hosting the LPGA and PGA Tours back in the 1950s on its Robert Trent Jones course. The Shangri-La Resort and Lake Murray Lodge are both lakeside retreats featuring golf.
