great gem good for all abilities

lots of tee box options. very fair to women. I appreciated the possibility of making it to the green in regulation. The only negative is the course is very dry, However, this is the result of the drought, not the course. Would definitely return.

Favorite place on earth!

We try to golf the Running Y every fall when the quaking aspens are floresent in color. If I could only golf one more time in my life time it would be at the Running Y. The course has everything from perfect manicured fairways and bunkers to very fast and true greens. The scenery is the most spectacular of any course not on the ocean. I highly recommend making this a part of your bucket list.

Beautiful Course

We thoroughly enjoyed our round as we waited for no one and the pro shop was able to get us out early. The course was in excellent condition and the weather was perfect. We will probably play there again if we're traveling through the area.

Great road trip course.

Playing at the Y is always something to look forward to. Most of the year it is overpriced so when Golfnow and the Y teamed up to have a $40 play with a cart special we had to take the offer. The caveat was that the weather was threatening but while we endured a few opening sprinkles, the sun was out for most of the round.

Finished the day with dining at Lake of the Woods. Had a great day.

A Most Enjoyable Golf Experience

Set amongst a large pine forest is one of the best maintained and challenging tracts in Oregon. Some of the holes have the characteristics of a links course while others are laid out among the pine trees in a typical parkland fashion. It's rated as a top 5 course for women golfers in the U.S.
The greens were smooth and very fast, at least 11 on the Stimpmeter.
The fairways were mowed nice and smooth so that a good drive got that extra roll. Add to the fact that you are playing at over 4000 feet elevation and you are carrying one or two clubs further.
An early morning tee time is pretty magical here. The greens keepers are all invisible here and that's a credit to management. With no wind or humidity, but a noticeable pine fragrance filling the air, it was an idyllic morning for golf.
There are lots of carries over lakes to tight greens, amazing elevation changes, especially hole #9 which goes straight down the mountain.
This is an enjoyable test of golf under perfect conditions. This tract is rated a top ten public course in Oregon and one of Arnold Palmer's favorite designs.
We were able to finish in just over three hours.
The pro shop guys are very friendly and helpful.
We enjoyed this course so much that we scheduled another round this week.

fun and challenging

Well maintained course . Greens are the best I've been around and probably the most challenging too. They seem ordinary from afar, but when you get there , you
you will find out they are not so simple. Had a great
time trying to figure them out. Loved the challenge.

Outstanding Golf Course

Really enjoyed my first time on the course. The fairways are wide and forgiving. The course is in immaculate condition and the scenery around the course is wonderful. But the greens are another story. They are tournament fast and extremely difficult. You need to hit your approaches close to the hole to avoid long putts. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Can't wait to return and play again.

Terrific course

I live in Roseburg and have really wanted to play the Running Y Ranch course for many years. Today, I bit the bullet and drove the three hours down to the course using a reservation via golfnow.com.

I arrived about 20 minutes before my tee time. The staff was professional and kind. The starter was very personable and chatty. I liked him right away. Neither was in any way pretentious and I felt right at home immediately. Kudos to them.

I began my round and noticed right away how green the course was. This was surprising considering the drought we have in Oregon and my local courses are quit dry and brown. I arrived at the first tee box and noticed immediately how flat it was and how well maintained it was. This theme was consistent throughout my round. I really appreciate courses that maintain their tee boxes. It seems to be a dying trend.

The fairways were all in very good shape. Nice and green and I didn't notice too many divots. The greens looked as if they would have been very good. They looked like they would have been smooth and fast. I really can't comment because the greens had a dusting of sand applied to them. I know they did it to save the greens from the heat, but because the greens weren't perfect, it's my only complaint. Again, I could tell they were well maintained and would have been a lot of fun. That was the only downer.

Big props to the young folks in the pro shop. I was stung by a bee on the fifth hole. It flew up my shorts and stung me on my inner thigh. OUCH! After I played the ninth, I went into the pro shop and asked for a first aid kit. The two young folks there literally dove into a closet to gather the things that I needed to treat the sting. I was impressed. They even had some special ointment for bee stings. That stuff was nice! Thanks again, guys.

The course overall was terrific. I like to take day trips to courses around the state and the Running Y is definitely in the rotation. Play it. You won't be disappointed.

It gets better each time you play it!

Five sets of tees make it playable for all abilities. It is very forgiving off the tee, but hole locations can make or break you. The greens rolled great, but even though there is not much undulation in them, they are tricky because of the subtle slopes. Very scenic, and the changes in elevation make it even more so, and add to the challenge. It's always good for the ego playing at this course because the ball does carry quite well being at a higher elevation. You are bound to see deer somewhere during your round. A great driving range and practice area, so get there early,.

Beautiful challenging course!

Really nice AP designed golf course with 5 tee boxes and beautiful views on almost every hole. Pace of play was leisurely at best, but I did play on a holiday weekend. Marshall's were great, but the rest of the staff were just average. If your in this area, you should find time to play this course.

Great layout by Palmer

Course was in great shape including fantastic rolling greens. Layout is challenging. Might want to play the tees behind the white so as to use fairway woods a bit more. Wish I was here to play the course again

A Gem in Klamath Falls

This golf course is one of the most beautiful we have played. My wife and I take our clubs with us on driving trips and search the Internet for courses at the places we stop. Sometimes we find great ones, and this one is near the top of the list.
The staff was friendly and helpful and the value for the price is excellent. I highly recommend this course.

We did not stay at the resort but definitely would if we ever get back to Klamath Falls. If you prefer a quiet, out of town resort, you will like Runnig Y Ranch.
