Course Good, Food/Beverage Non-existent

The course & staff were fine but no food or beverage available, it was all closed. Time of year? I suppose, but it certainly detracted from the experience.

So much fun!

Caldera Springs is fantastic! Reminds me of The Preserve at Bandon Dunes.

This course is in great shape and is all about the greens. They are fast, smooth, and really tough! There are so many bumps, backstops, false fronts, etc you can't help but have fun trying to make a par.

It is a 9 hole par 3 course, but it keeps your attention and interest the whole time. It is only open half the year. Also, you need to be a member of Crosswaters or restort guest. Play here if you get the chance!!

Disappointed

I have played the course each year and pace of play was slow. Had 11:00 am tee time and grill was closed at completion of round..

Sunriver Woodlands

Course was in great condition although they need to rake their bunkers more frequently, my first day there they had not been raked and the sprinklers had compacted the sand which made them impossible. Like the layout, but the price is pretty stiff plus an extra $10 for range balls which only came as one size. My only big gripe was we were on mats on the range and it was difficult to hit off a tee since the mat tee holders were gone. For the price and the extra fee I would expect more. Still enjoyed my time at Sunriver and the Woodlands.

Nice Course, Great conditions

The Meadows has never been a particularly difficult course but it can be difficult on the greens when they are fast and the rough can get very thick. Conditions were great, practice facilities are fantastic (grass with a full short game area), staff friendly and helpful. I have been playing this course since 1980 and always enjoy going back -- although I generally play the Woodlands a bit more at Sunriver given the choice (better layout).

If You Like Sitting In Traffic, You'll Love This Course

Bottom line first: abysmal pace of place absolutely ruined the round here.
The Woodlands Course at Sun River, a Robert Trent Jones design, is an excellent track, and quite difficult. That may be part of the problem here--it really is not a good course for partiers, families, old couples, etc., but it is set in a resort and hence filled with players who will struggle. With hard, fast greens that were difficult to hold, and some wicked pin placements, I found it quite tough the day we played.
That said, I could not recommend it to any decent golfer, because the pace of play is atrocious. It took us more than five hours to finish, and the front nine was just brutal--2:45, waiting on EVERY shot. The player assistant told us that the holdup was a "family reunion" group that was more interested in the beverage cart than playing. Ok, fine, so do something about it--you can't let one group ruin everyone else's day. Several players from behind us passed us on their way to quitting early in frustration, and our concentration was shot by the fifth hole.
When we went by at the turn, the starter just shrugged and said "it's a resort course, we're trying." They could try harder--here's some recommendations:
1. Admit you have a problem with pace, and commit to address it, rather than shrugging at it.
2. Prominently post an expected time to finish and get each group to commit to it so they can be moved up when they fall off the pace.
3. Tell players "this is a difficult course" and recommend moving up a couple tee boxes is they are not lower handicap players.
4. Don't let a drunken group ruin things for everyone else--after one warning, either move them up, or get them off the course.
And, by the way, ask people to rake the bunkers. It seems that a new generation of post-Covid golfers thinks raking is optional..
Another annoying thing about this course is that after charging you $155 for a weekday round, they have the nerve to charge you for range balls.
Great course, I won't be going back.

After reading your review I feel that it's only right as a local lifer of Bend Oregon, to apologize for the experience you had and the way things were handled during your play in Sunriver. I personally appreciate your detailed review as I will be taking an employment position at this location in the near future. I welcome any and all feed back. It helps us to learn and in return grow as individuals as well as a team within a company. Please don't give up on this amazing course due to one bad experience. Be willing to give it another shot because you never know , the next time could just be the best time of your life!

Pace of play

Excruciating slow play - especially on the back 9. My group, along with 2 other groups behind us quit play after 16 holes. When we got to #18, we saw three foursomes on the putting green from a wedding party!!! There was no ranger or Marshall in sight - in front of the clubhouse no less! Very disconcerting for what I consider a high end facility.
