Good course If you get the right price
I got a great deal through GolfNow for $19 so price was good. It's a good place to go that's not crowded. Fairways were ok and greens were in good shape but maybe a little slow.
Fair condition course, however, good value for Hot Deal
Greens have some bald spots. Fairways about the same. Fairly easy except 3-4 holes. Similar to most munis, will lay again as "hot deal" only..
Greens are getting better
This course is worth the money if you get a Hot Rate deal. Full price is too much for the current conditions, but they are working on the greens. Some of the tee boxes for ladies are not in great condition, either. The fairways are great, and we enjoy playing here, but think their regular rate is too high for the overall shape of the course at this time. As long as we can get Golf Now rates, we will be happy to keep showing up and working on our games.
Great Hill Country Course
Great hill country course in good condition with many challeging holes. Staff was excelleny and food onsite great. Cooler than playing in San Antonio and get to eat breakfast in Bandera before the round.
Fore!
The greens are still recovering. They were way below average. Other than Norcliffe and Canyon Lake , possibly the worst greens in the S.A. area.
Greens and fairways in poor condition, Greens so rough almost impossible to putt, fairways thin no good cover.
Rough Greens
Greens were in pretty bad condition. Many greens had dead spots and were very bumpy.
Review
Nice course for the price. Greens in awful condition, but it was 16 bucks. Beautiful area, which is why I would ho back.
Enjoyed the course, BUT
Enjoyed the coarse and the peaple had an excellent lunch. but the greens were terrible with hardly any grass on most.
Great time, great value
The course was in great shape, except for the greens. Greens were a little rough, but still worth the drive. I will definitely be booking here again.
This course was a joy!
Spouse and I had a nice time at Flying L. The course was not crowded and was in typical shape for April. The gentleman who checked us in was very pleasant and had an easy way about him. We had lunch at the grill, which was very tasty and the ladies were friendly.
We will return.
Horrible greens
Worst greens I've played on. Fairways were below average and it certainly didn't help it was tough weather conditions! It was a 50 minute drive from San Antonio and certainly not worth it. Won't be going back.
Course needs better care.
Several out-of bounds areas have restricted access resulting in lost balls for those of us who hit errant shots. Greens are in very poor condition. Course could be very good with better maintenance.
Good Time
The four of us had a good enjoyable experience and the weather was great. Over all, the course was in good condition but the greens were in rough shape. The staff explained to us before we started our round the problem they were having with the greens. That said, this was in the middle of March and the greens were still playable, and they didn't interfere with our play. We will go back.
Fun course for the area
The staff was friendly and the course was fun and had some challenging holes. I would play it again.
Winter Conditions
Fun little course, a little rough and should improve by middle of April
Fun resort style course but slow play
This was a fun course to play with lots of interesting holes. Good value for the money. As others have noted some of the greens suffer from weed growth but was okay for casual play.
Only problem was a really slow group several groups ahead holding up play so it was hit then wait.
Thank you for your review and the heads up on the course conditions I was thinking of trying to play that course next week when I'm on vacation in the San Antonio area but I'll look elsewhere
