Creek Course #9 Photo submitted by GreerGolf on 06/06/2017
Disappointing
No area marked for bag drop so carried to carts. Starter sat and watched then pointed to which car I could use.
Course poor condition, bunkers no sand but rather dirt. We were a twosome who got stuck behind a six some. They told us cause it was slow ahead, but a full hole open ahead of them.
Terrible design
The staff was very friendly and the course condition were excellent. Both fairways and greens. The problem is the design is awful. Unless that is, you like hitting a ball right down the middle of the fairway, only to have a tree right in your line to the green. And this isn't an occasional circumstance on The Oaks nine. It seems to be on every hole. Also, the first 6 holes on The Oaks 9 were so narrow, you may as well just hit a mid iron from the tee. One the first par 5 on The Oaks, I stepped off the fairway width at the landing area and it was 18 yards wide. That is US Open kind of width. he Creeks was a little better, but also has several stupid holes. I played with a couple of members there. They were both frustrated by it. Not sure why anyone would want to be a member there. If you are a 10 handicap or higher and play there, take 2 dozen balls.
Worst greens
The greens have not grown in yet and are also sanded. Save your money and go play another course.
Tried to Call and Cancel
Tried to call and cancel several times with no luck getting through. Was charged regardless for not showing up due to an emergency. Won't play here EVER. I understand a small fee but the entire 166.00 for two players completely charged because of a no show is ridiculous. F-
Disappointment. It is a Hyatt Regency Resort
It was mostly on the Oaks. I wish I had taken pictures. A lot of weeds around the course and dead spots around and on the greens. It look like the Oaks greens hadn't been mowed. Piles of dead grass clippings in the fairways. terrible pace of play 12:40pm- 6:20pm 5 &1/2 hours. We never saw a marshal. Very Disappointing, I wouldn’t have thought the Hyatt would let something like this happen to a course with their name on it. It was like the course was having financial problems and cut back on maintenance. I really feel bad about writing this but it is what it is and I wish we hadn’t played there, I have played it before and it was in great shape. I'm sure I will play it again, but I will call the pro shop and ask what type of shape it is in.
Awful
This just not be labeled as a “resort course”. The course which I last played 10 years ago was in horrible shape. The Hyatt should be embarrassed.
Thank God we only paid $40.00 to play yesterday using golfnow.com. The normal rate was going to be $125.00!!
Don’t waste your money
Not staffed, greens are terrible, club house and restaurants close at noon for New Year’s Eve
Hyatt Joke
After all the rain and poor weather the last few weeks the course was in good shape. Course played as Cartpath Only, made for very slow play. However, course officials allowed groups of 5 to 6 golfers at a time, because of these large groups we bypassed 3 holes on the Oaks course just to speed up play. 5 1/2 hours to play 18 holes is not exceptable. Course Marshal didn't seem to care about the pace of play and said that is just how it is on the weekends. Wouldn't waste your time or money if you are planning on playing on the weekend.
This course is absolutely not worth the money!!
We traveled from Dallas and have played similar courses in this price range in the San Antonio area and for this course to be $150 a person is a joke. I wouldn’t have played this course for $30. When we approached the staff about our concerns they simply just said they are waiting on rain…but their job should be to keep course conditions good and playable. These greens were terrible and tee boxes were poorly taken care of. They tried to comp our round and we simply will not even be coming back here again.
Unfortunate
Unbelievable. Pace of play was horrible. Granted we’re experienced golfers with decent HC. After waiting behind a slow group of men on the lakes course for five holes they finally waved us through and we completed that nine. Looking forward to playing the next nine on Creek’s we were told by the starter we had a group two holes ahead. Relief. Well that didn’t last long. We caught them very quickly. Well looking in front of that group was a party of “ 6 “ !!! I couldn’t believe it. First and foremost 6 period is a huge No! On a Saturday?? Really!! It was just absolutely miserable.
Never again.
Left our clubs on a sidewalk to park. Then carried to cart - starter pointed to which cart we could load clubs on.
Dirt bunkers, no sand.
We were twosome that then got stuck behind six guys playing together.
Regrettable round.
Worst Course and Experience
The pricing is ridiculous, the whole course is horrible, staff is unfriendly and have no golf etiquette. This course has really gone down hill year after year. Management has no idea what they are doing. No golf balls, no care for course or their members or guests. Stay away.
This course used to be one of the best in town, a fun layout with 3 different 9s. Now, the conditions are terrible: overgrown bumpy greens, dead patches, weeds, dirt patches, overgrown trees, rude staff. Sad to see a once great course in worse shape than most munis in the area.
Perfect storm
Wasn’t told we would be playing the same 9 holes twice due to a tournament, they were out of range balls, and the beverage cart only came by once when we’re were almost done our second round. Grass was yellow, not well taken care of, and the ground was hard-clay firm. Watch out for the ant hills, they’re everywhere and I’m dealing with blisters now. Expected much better.
Dry and dead
End of march was dry and dead. No green on fairways and hard. Loosing some of the greens too. Worse condition course I’ve played in San Antonio. Didn’t used to be that way. Absolutely terrible for the high price!
Do not play
This course is at a resort but it is NOT a resort course. Very rough around the edges. Tee markers that haven’t been moved in weeks. Greens with huge weed and bare spots.
Do not waste your money.
Do not waste your time.
Staff didnt care if we were there or are to tell us anything about the course. We played 3 other courses in San Antonio this weekend and ALL of them were way better experiences.
Greens need Help
From tee box to green all needs help ( lack of water) This was one of the nicest Courses in San Antonio
