Good layout; good course but overall the course is slipping. Conditions are deteriorating as it did in the past when it was Del Lago. It's a shame because this is a fine golf course and the views of the Lake are special. I hope the course is taken over by someone who will restore to its former glory.
Greens need work
Tough to play with Greens in this condition.
Would have been nice to know prior to booking.
Great Course for the price point
Fairways were excellent! Greens need work but playable. Stock up on water before heading out !! Was HOT and only two water pit stops on the course.
Best Value in Houston Area
La Torretta is far and away the BEST course you will find in its price bracket. Played here for the first time today. Conditions of an $80 course in the $45-50 range (though I’ve played $80 courses that weren’t as nice). Great water features, beautiful landscaping, greens roll fast but true and just soft enough to hold approaches, long and narrow but fast running fairways, perfectly placed and well maintained bunkers, challenging yet makable forced carries, great pace of play, not overcrowded, clubhouse bathroom/locker rooms fit for a King (and/or Queen I assume, but I didn’t visit that one), friendly staff, great service...I could go on and on. I had an incredible experience at La Torretta today. Unfortunately I live an hour away, but if I lived just a half hour closer, this would undoubtedly be my home course.
Good not great
This was the 2nd time I played this course and overall I enjoyed my round. The greens we in good shape despite and not mushy despite the huge amount of recent rain. The fairways were fine and tee boxes and bunkers looked good. The only part of the course that looked liked it needed some attention was the rough. It looked as if it hasn't been cut in weeks....makes sense because of the rain.
The layout is ok but this course doesn't have any holes that stick out as memorable.
It's a long drive from houston so probably wont be going back anytime soon
La Torretta Golf
Course was wet in the fairway which made it play even longer. Would like to play this course again when it is dryer! Very good course layout just no role today! For the price it is a worthwhile play!
After taking care of their greens, this course has been really the top choice for me given its value - very reasonable price but very challenging setup especially for the 1st 9 holes!
Fairly challenging course. Well worth the $33 hot deal.
The fairways and greens were in excellent shape. Definitely coming back. I would recommend this course to anyone.
My #1 Course now
Best course in the Conroe area I’ve ever played. Played today and booking another round when I finish this review for next week. They have definitely earned my business!
Grabbed a 7:40 tee time for $18, when usually we are excited to see it for $30. Great all around course, a little where and tear on greens but nothing ridiculous. Excellent hot deal value.
Course is in ownership transition so not much improvement being done. It is maintained unless you hit it offline. You will have to deal with 8" grass rough. Great layout greens are good for this time of year except for 18 green. Someone burnt a 3' x 30 strip right down the middle. Very challenging tree lined layout. Somewhat like a park course with a couple elevation holes thrown in. If this course had Panarama's green it would be a tournament course.
Great Course for the Value
This is one of my favorite courses and it’s a hidden gem. For the money you won’t find too many courses better than La Torretta. Manicured fairways and rough that is almost penal. Undulating and quick greens make putting a challenge. Been at least 6 times the past couple of months and always have a good time. Looking forward to my next trip back.
Course had lots of rain so although looked dry, was cart path only. Last month the fairways and greens were lush. Now they’re taking on fall changes. The greens were great though as were the bunkers. The only problem was slow play from two groups in front of us that we caught up to on hole # 14 and from there we moved at a snail’s pace. No marshall and no cart girl - not unusual for this course though. Overall one of the best values in the Houston - Conroe area.
So I get the weather is changing and the course received a bunch of rain but I was really surprised how the course conditions reflected a course that you'd expect to play maybe later in the fall/winter here in the area. Tee boxes were thin, fairways were really starting to thin out and greens were decent but they need to be punched or something to help with the growth. It's a good value is you find a cheaper tee time on golf now. It's a good layout and challenging course but maybe I caught it at a bad time.
