Sonesta Bee Cave
About Sonesta Bee Cave
The Sonesta Bee Cave is located 20 minutes west off Austin off Highway 71 in the Hill Country Galleria, home to a collection of shops, bars and restaurants. There is no golf course onsite but there is shuttle service to the nearby Lakeway golf courses, including public Falconhead Golf Club, and the hotel does have some limited access to the private courses at the Clubs of Lakeway. The Sonesta Bee Cave features a large, outdoor courtyard pool, 10,000 square feet of meeting space and a 5,300 square foot ballroom. Lake Travis is minutes away where a marina can be accessed, and world-famous Hamilton Pool is also a short drive away. A highlight of the Sonesta Bee Cave is not only the galleria shops and restaurants but the hotel's own rooftop Meridian 98, which features cocktails and specialty plates in a lively setting that hosts live music.Facts

First time at Falconhead, will be back
Greens were freshly cut and rolled true. Considering the recent ice storm damage, the course was in great shape. Check-in process was first rate, staff was friendly. The only drawback was a large bachelor party group in front of us that slowed pace down slightly. However pace was not overly slow nor did we run into any problems with them or any other groups on the course. Will definitely be back in the spring!
Thank you so much for the great review. We are glad you had an incredible time, and we hope to see you again soon! Thanks for choosing Falconhead Golf Club.

Poor greens
By far the worst greens I have ever putted on. I put this on golf now as much as the course, they were charging full rate of $80 something and had no warning. There should be some kind of note before booking when this is the case.
The front nine greens were in really poor condition for the price of the round. Expected better given the green fees. The pace of play was good — especially appreciated for a Saturday morning.
Think they could do with a better bathroom set up but other than that was a good day on the course.
Surprised they use gas powered golf carts. Think might be better to have electric.
Great escape from the winter up north, but the course was in rough shape. Greens were super long. All, understandable for the time of year (January), but other courses around town were in better shape. Good value though.
Terrible course and service
Slow play at the course, only got through 12 holes in 4 hours. Double charged me because one person canceled. Honestly terrible customer service. I will not be back. Greens were terrible as well. Tee boxes all destroyed.
Horrible greens
Do not play here. I couldn’t believe that I was going to have to pay $130 for the worst greens I’ve played in Texas. I even called before to make sure the greens were in good shape. Pro shop was answered by a kid who was like uh yah I think they’re good. Full of disease and in horrible shape. Asked the groundscrew what is going on and they said it’s an issue with their overseed. If that’s the case then change the price to play $60 until the problem is fixed.
OVR great if under 100$
Course is in pretty nice shape 2 has a fungus eating the green besides that course is in good shape
Greens need work
A lot of the greens need work and the sprinklers came on when we still had 5 holes to play
Beautiful course
Course was in great shape. Love the layout here and they have a great practice facility. Only saw the cart girl once so that was a drag since there was little to no water in the coolers on the course.
So so for spring golf in Texas
Course layout was pretty nice with great views, and some really cool holes. The course is taking a beating over the winter time. Fairways were pretty bare, and greens were pretty poor.

Stay away
I never write reviews but have to on this one. I’ve played Falconhead since it opened in 2003 and this was the worst I’ve ever seen it. The greens were absolutely awful like they hadn’t been mowed in weeks (where there was grass) while the rest of the greens were dirt. It was cart path only because they were spray painting the course green. It’s January and the grass is dormant so it’s supposed to be brown. They continue to overseed which creates two additional transition periods for the course when dormant Bermuda greens are awesome. The staff are jerks and could care less which is why a lot of members have left, including me. To top it off they charged me $93 to play on a Thursday. Actually very sad as it used to be a gem; those days are gone.,

Fun but long day
Pace of play was slow, Marshall helped some with moving folks ahead that were causing backup. Greens were a bit rough…not in the best shape. Course was nice enough.
