Scenic Scenery Hidden Holes

Ok you will not play this course and say it has 18 great golf holes because it doesn't. Hidden shots, narrow landing areas, gimmicky greens on many holes, etc......but I would still say it is worth a trip around this course for the scenery and novelty. The staff is very good. The course is not a traditional one and if you can accept that and the fact that you will not shoot your best score due to odd greens and hidden shots, you can have a fun time here. Not for the high handicap player however.(especially the first 4 holes). Too much trouble. The 10th hole is a par five and I hit a driver , 52 degree wedge onto the green from the tips? Of course it drops about 400 feet from Tee to fairway, which you cannot really see from the tee box?

Very Scenic but Tough Course

We've played this course 1 time each of the last 3 years. It has some great scenic views, but it's best for the occasional visitor to understand your scoring might not be so good. Fairways have significant slope and hitting the right side of the fairway is critical in several areas. There are very large elevation changes on several holes that require 3 or 4 club changes due to elevation both up and down.

Staff there are very friendly and helpful. The course has no driving range, but there are a couple of nets near the first Tee Box to warm up a bit.

Our philosophy has been to enjoy the scenic views and don't worry too much about your score. Priced at $95 makes this one of the most expensive public courses in this area. All that said, we've come back 3 years running and enjoy it every time.

Great Views - Tough Course

This course is a great scenic course. The course is difficult and my be too difficult if you're worried about your score. We've played this course the past 3 years and will play it again on our trip next year. Signage is ok, but not great. No driving range, but they have 2 very small hitting booths for warmups. The cost is on the high side @ $95, but ok for great scenic views.

Course conditions were very good.

Tough but fun course

Greens were in excellent shape. They are very undulating and fast. Fairways in great shape also. Need a little better signage for the transition from 6 to 7. We got a little confused going down the path as we saw a sign directing us left for the 10 tee box, but nothing directing us to the 7 tee box. We found it though. We were a twosome following a single then two twosomes. The front two set the pace which was slow, slow, slow. Front nine was fine but back nine we talked to the single in front of us every tee box as he and the group ahead of him waited for the lead two. I'd play again though as the course is nice and the staff is great. Good value for seniors. We paid $67 on golfnow. Great views.

Very unique mountain course with stunning elevated shots.

This was an awesome mountain course with stunning elevation, and superb greens. Definitely a must play for golfers who enjoy a challenge. We've played a lot of courses, but never one like this, best course on our list. Can't wait to come back and play again.

Forced this course into an area where you could get maybe 12 good holes. Some beautiful holes but many quriky, awkward holes.

Hard but too scenic to miss

This course is hard because of the forced carries and blind tee shots. Having said that, I loved this course because every hole is different. It wraps around the mountain at the Canyons Ski Resort. The lifts are running overhead. The greens are a little funky with lots of undulation. It has resort pricing. Pro shop is small but the staff was super friendly. Parking is in a dirt lot, follow the signs and then wait for the shuttle.

A burgeoning must-play

The staff was wonderful, first of all, and accommodating since I was on a road trip and passing through and wanted to get a round in here.

The course has come a long way from its beginnings and, based on talking to locals, has improved each season. Very playable, great up and down challenges and incredibly picturesque. Fairways were groomed consistently, some of the cart paths are gravel and the wayfinding is curious in a few spots. Greens had a good roll and were cut well given that there is still snow not too much higher up in places.

It's a difficult place to put a course and, given the Canyons ski resort, golf will obviously always be second fiddle. As such, there is a parking lot shuttle to the golf shop. They had a starter on the first tee box and the conversation and course guidance was sound. Club selection is always a challenge on these mountain courses, not just because of the elevation period, but the vertical elevation changes on some holes (#10 is a fun bombs away hole--be sure to play it from the back tee!) Quite a bit of character with these holes.

Overall, it offered decent value in my mind, especially if you're a sea level golfer. Take in the beauty of this course, the hospitality and enjoy the experience. It was refreshing to have had so much FUN on a golf course.

A Must Play in Park City

I am from Vegas and conditions are a must for me. For a course just coming into season, the conditions were PERFECT! Breathtaking Views on holes #4 and #10 that will literally leave you standing on the tee looking around and thinking this is what playing mountain golf is all about!!!

The staff at this course is nothing short of amazing and truly want you to have a memorable experience, Justin and Scott in the Pro Shop will truly make you feel like you are the first guest to step foot on the course.

If you go in thinking that 6,000 yards is short from the tips you are in for a great surprise! This course plays every bit as difficult as a 7,200 yard course and will leave you scratching your head. Great course for both beginners and sightseers!

Again A MUST PLAY!

New and amazing

I felt like I was on a country club when it comes to the condition of the course. Greens were so clean and nice, the nicest tee boxes I've been on in a long time. Staff was very nice, the cart girl came around frequently and was very nice.

My only gripe, and it is little, is about App gps. I like using an app I already had that has thousands of courses but this one wasn't one of them. They provide an app which was good but lacked the things I'm used to. The course has distances everywhere that are really well marked. I am just hoping they'd add their course to the global app I use.

We are very happy to hear you enjoyed our course. Please let us know what app you use so we can add our course to the list. We had thought we were on all of the popular most used apps and gps devices. Hopefully next time we see you this won't be a problem. Thank you again for visiting Canyons Golf!

Very cool layout

I played this course on a slow day, so I was able to fly through the course. The 10th hole has to be my favorite part of the course. I was told that the blue tee's were 300 ft above the fairway. This makes for an interesting hole because the second shot was a blind shot into the green. The staff was super friendly and very knowledgeable about the course. I liked the course layout map. I would play this again, for sure.

Stunning, but a bit difficult to navigate

The views on this new mountain course are incredible. There's an infinity green, for example, where you can see for 50 miles or more. But the limited land apparently made this course difficult to lay out. The first few holes for a first-timer are a guessing game at best, and there are several blind shots where without a spotter you're just guessing where your ball winds up. Still, there are plenty of really good holes, conditioning is outstanding and the course is certainly fun. Just don't get wrapped up in your total score.
