Great Value
The course was in pretty good shape considering the rain that fell the previous two days. Great deal on greens fees. Played in 3.5 hours. Good array of challenging holes.
Beautiful greens but....
The first 14 greens were fantastic, don't know about the last 4. We had a 10:15 Tee time and by the time we finished 14 it was 2:45 so we called it quits. The extremely slow golf carts may have been a factor. Also, I don't know what was going on with fairways and rough. Most holes appeared to be bentgrass fairways with Bermuda rough, but on random holes it was reversed. Just seemed odd. Overall if not for the pace of play it would have been an enjoyable round.
Too slow to replay
Extremely slow foursome in front of us were at least 3 holes behind the entire front nine and would not allow us to go through until the 10th hole. And, there was no marshall to move them along. By then, our group was frustrated and resolved to not come back and play there again.
Course is in great shape!
I have been playing this course for many years and I can honestly say the greens and tee boxes never looked better! Great value for the money and l look forward to returning soon!
Avoid this course on the weekend
We arrived for a 11:22 tee time to find a quaint course that we were excited to play. We walked into a tiny clubhouse with a warm welcoming feel. There was only one young man working the snack bar and desk. I waited for about 10 minutes to sign in and then proceeded to the range. After a warmup in the dirt (no visible grass) I was already reluctant to get started. When we headed to the first tee the starter had us wait (a twosome in a cart) for a foursome of young people that were WALKING! My girlfriend questioned this and he said "AWW, they'll keep pace". We teed off 15 mins late since he gave our tee time to this foursome. Long story told, we played 10 holes in 4 1/2 hours due to backups all over the course. Each and every hole was us on the tee box, a group in the fairway and a group on the green.
HOW MUCH REVENUE DOES THIS COURSE NEED to put this many players on course at the same time? VERY disappointed...
Great public golf course
Course is in great shape compared to years past. The greens are great shape and a touch slow but with all the play that's understandable. An old classic golf course that you just don't find anymore. The staff was very friendly and inviting, which lead to an even better day on the course.
bunker-rific
I enjoyed my round at The Crossings, conveniently located near I-295 outside Richmond, VA. There were some fairways that could have been in better condition, but overall the course was well maintained. There were quite a few tree-lined fairways, punishing errant tee shots, as well as numerous large bunkers around many of the greens, some of which were quite large. Overall, players of all abilities could enjoy this course.
Courts is not in good condition
Senior tee boxes do not have much grass. Fairways are also very thin in areas.
Not bad...
I've played the Crossings for years. It used to be the premier public course in Richmond. Now, it is an average/slightly above average track. I enjoy the layout, and know what to expect. I think it is a bit overpriced, as other courses close by are either cheaper (Belmont) or the same price in better condition (Hunting Hawk). Still, lots of fun, and a good value with Golf Now HotDeal.
Well above average
Very challanging for intermediate golfers, some narrow fairways and lots of sand and water.
Greens, tee boxes and fairways in pretty good shape for a public course.
Bunkers need to be better maintained
Good value for the money
Very playable Nice shape
Great staff
Very accommodating
Nice practice facilities
Assistant pro Jimmy very encouraging and welcoming
Very well conditioned
Course was in very good shape, there was some repair work being done on cart paths. Overall very good. I was initially concerned waiting on the 1st tee, but once we went off, pace of play was not a problem. For the amount of rounds played on this course, it was a very good experience.
First time
Course was ok. For the money, you could probably find better though. Greens were totally unpredictable and slow sadly. Layout is interesting....
Played Royal New Kent which is a course every golfer needs to experience once I'm their life...WOW
Really bad wait times
I've never played anywhere in which I had to wait 10-15 minutes to T-Off after finishing putting. The scheduling of Tee times was extremely poor. It took over 5 hours to play. I will not be going here again.
Bunker security
The staff at this course are some of the friendliest around. The greens are in fantastic shape - if you can get past all of the bunkers that are guarding them. If you don't hit the ball long and straight you might have a higher score than you are used to. The clubhouse has a friendly atmosphere and is a great place to grab a beer or two after your round!
A bargain for seniors
The course overall was in great condition, though some of the greens seemed slow and a few tee boxes were in poor condition. Some bunkers were in very poor shape while others were good.
The starter does a good job of getting groups onto the tee.
Nice
The fairways are in good shape. The greens are in great shape!! The staff seemed to pick and choose which bunkers they cleaned. Some were perfect but some were still wet and packed from watering.
Way too slow
Played on Friday at 3 pm and it took 4.5 hours. The course is in good condition and would have been fun but playing that slow is ridiculous. The course needs to do a better job of getting people to pick up their pace of play. I won't play there again because I would rather pay $10 more dollars and play in 3.5 hours than play this course in 4.5
Nice course
One of the better public courses in RVA. Go and have fun.
Excellent !!!!
Stopped here on the way back from Myrtle Beach. ..just about the halfway point to home. I screwed up the reservation, but the pro went out if his way to get us out, and am I glad he did. Although the greens had been aerated, they were nearly fully recovered. A 3:45 round, on a well set up course.....We were very pleased.....We have now included The Crossings in our plans for future golf trips!!!
