Quality resort course - pricey for the area
I had a great day playing alone and at my own pace. Good condition and layout. Just too pricey for this area of Virginia. Would play again if in the area but only with another GN discount.
Great layout, fun round, some maintenance issues
I love Stoney Creek and play it every time I come through. This time seemed to be dealing with some maintenance issues - greens seemed beat up (strange because several times I played there wasn’t much play) and bunkers were just awful. Fairways were beautiful as ever and still had a great time. Hopeful they will be able to address these issues because I will definitely be back to play again.
No restaurant
It’s hard to believe a high end course in a nice resort community has no restaurant. I live here and it’s embarrassing.
Beautiful course in great condition, but no restaurant or food dining option.
No water in 94 degree heat
Two places on course with water. The board members or the pro should be fired. I t caused dizzying spells by me never it my mind as they charged and no one at the drop off was there. Didn’t give us water if they new wasn’t on course. Only person that was nice was the starter. Board should give some restitution for there negligence
Wrong date.
When booking it defaulted to todays date so how do I get refund so I can change to date I wanted?
Beautiful layout
I have always loved this Reese Jones gem. Today was even better due to uncrowned conditions midweek and great pace of play
Design & quality of courses
There , golf course ,has lakes ,creek and hilly also dogleg ,etc.
Specifically, 5 different tee off areas is good for the all kind of golfers skills with family resorts vacations.
The course maintenance is super.
Challenging course where you will use all clubs
Great service at the pro shop.. facilities help out with warm up on the range and putting. The course demands using almost all of your irons due to type fairways. Fun course and professional staff. A new restaurant will be opening soon on the premises.
Grass
Course has warm weather grass that comes in late Spring.
New favorite course
We loved visiting and playing Stoney Creek. The course was in great condition even during a drought. The staff could not have been friendlier. The only part that was lacking was the restaurant was closed and the hotdogs at the snack bar were disgusting. Their drink selection was perfect for us. Would’ve been nice to have a cart attendee driving around with drinks or food but not really an issue. Again the course and staff were perfect and this will be our preferred course now.
Beautiful Golf Day in Blue Ridge Mountains
Stoney Creek at Wintergreen is in the Rockfish Valley in Virginia. Being in the valley there are less elevation changes than the other resort course Devils Knob. But the views throughout the course are incredible. Course conditions were very good , greens had been aerated about 2 weeks prior so a little slow but consistent.
Service in the clubhouse and course attendants was excellent. With 2 breweries and cider and wineries close by this is the place to play if you like mountain golf.
Rough Round but Worth It!
Beautiful views on a very pleasant layout. Good condition.
Warning: Rough is treacherous… bring extra balls, you will lose quite a few if you tend to roll em off the fairway. The surroundings are worth the price of admission. Hit ‘em straight!
