Devil's Head Resort
About Devil's Head Resort
Devil’s Head Resort in Merrimac in Sauk County has grown from a small ski resort to one of Wisconsin’s best ski-and-golf destinations. The resort opened in 1970 with a 92-room hotel, four chairlifts and 10 runs in 1970. Today, Devil’s Head offers two golf courses, 138 hotel rooms, more suites and condos, six dining options, a conference center and more chairlifts and ski runs. Art Johnson designed both courses, Glacier and Prairie Glen. Glacier navigates a maze of elevation changes with rugged features of rock out-croppings and water on seven holes. Prairie Glen offers its own challenges with island greens and plenty of water and traps.Facts

Great crew
As I arrived at the clubhouse, I overheard that they were overbooked by this website. The team they had pulled together and honored all of the tee times booked. It's a great course for the price and they have some top quality employees!
The Gacier Course is a Hidden Gem
This may be one of the most beautiful/scenic golf courses I have ever played. You have to constantly refocus because of the beauty. Whether it is the amazing layout that takes you from the base of the Baraboo Bluffs to the top. The eagles flying over head or the fox and deer running Cross the fairway. The fairways range from open to narrow. The only bummer were the greens. They did not seem to fair well from the winter as there was a great deal,of sand on the greens. Cannot wait to go back again.
Great Day of Golf
The pro was very helpful, courteous, and treated us very professional.
Fantastic course for the price. Just don’t try to walk it.
Awesome Round!
Staff was very informative and friendly. Would definitely come back to this course again.
Prairie glen
Bathrooms are filthy. Drink cart person can't ever make it around to you. Fairways have huge mud holes. Trash all around edges of course. This time there were large marshmallows tossed all around on several of the holes, making a very ridiculous experience.
Gravel pits for bunkers
The layout of the course is awesome but the conditions are absolutely horrendous. Massive amounts of burnt out or dead grass in the fairways and greens. A ridiculous amount of hidden stones and large rocks that are obscured by dead grass or clippings. I actually used a t a few times to check and see if there was dirt under the ball. The speed of the greens changes drastically throughout the 18. One cart girl who wasn't moving is pathetic for an 18-hole course that was full. Devil's Head also did not have our tee time and we were forced to wait an additional 20 minutes to tee off.
Course in very good shape
I've played this course for 15 years and have never seen it in as good shape as it is now. It is obvious that the groundskeepers have been putting in some extra work, and have had some help with a great growing season. Always look forward to seeing wildlife during my rounds out here
Devils Head, Glacier Course
What a bargain through Golf Now! A beautiful course nestled high in the Wisconsin hills with spectacular views. Play it for fun, not for score as the greens, while in great shape, are unreadable, mounded, and very difficult. Beer at 6 bucks each, a bit much though. We thoroughly enjoyed playing here.
Great challenging course
I have played prairie glen and glacier several times this year and the course is in great shape. Mike the starter guy is great, not sure of the man's name the last time out but he wasn't the friendliest. He treated me like I was interrupting him. Regardless, I had a great time.
, well laid out course., fairways a little thin
Love the layout and the views and elevation changes...fairways were a bit thin in spots. Would definitely play it again if vacationing in the area
Enjoyable golf
We arrived a little early only to find out a shotgun start was in play. The starter was very helpful. He checked for a gap and sent us right off. We had an enjoyable round with friends.
Fabulous course
This is a beautiful course. Lots of elevation changes with good sand traps and water hazards. A great value.
Golf With Young Son
Staff is outstanding and helpful- I enjoy talking to them each time I visit, especially the pro. Beautiful setting.
Prairie Glen
Great course! Hidden greens are very fun to play here. If you don't hit the sand around the edge of most greens you'll need to keep it close to the pin or the greens will challenge you even more. Very fun course for all levels of players.
Glacier course
Was in good shape the course is fun a lot of ups and downs use all your clubs.
