Aerification
Booked thru Golfnow and an aerification notification was there but was not informed until we got to course that we had to play the front nine twice. I can live with aerated greens if I can play the entire 18 holes. Not a good value at $50/ person.
Considering that we were playing in November I was pleasantly surprised at what a great job the staff did in clearing leaves.
Tough flag placement
The holes were cut into every where there was a slope or mound on the green , the greens a little difficult to begin with.
Good course, unfriendly staff
Ultimately, Pinecrest is a decent golf course with pretty nice conditions and a average layout. However, the unfriendliness of the staff borderline ruined my experience, not just when I played today but the past couple of times that I’ve played here. From marshals coming up to you and either (a) tell you to speed up your play even when there are two other groups in front of you that led to me and my group playing over a 6 hour round of golf, (b) yell at you for teeing off when the group ahead of you is over 350-400 yards away, and/or (c) threaten to kick you off the course when you group up with another twosome in front of you as the pace of play was so slow. And it wasn’t even the marshals, with the people working the turn being sassy and rude to me and my group.
Overall, I want to like Pinecrest. I really do. But the unfriendly and rude staff almost ruined my experience the multiple times that I’ve been. It’ll be a hard sell trying to get me to come back anytime soon.
Good course, unfriendly staff
Ultimately, this is a pretty good course. Nice layout and pretty well taken care of. However, that was ruined by the staff, who were just plain unpleasant to deal with. A couple of rangers were going around the course, and we got yelled at a couple of times for things either (a) completely out of our control, like playing too slow even with two groups ahead of us who were going at a snails pace, or (b) thinking that we didn’t know our boundaries and thinking that we could hit 450 yard drives into people further up the fairway. And it wasn’t even the rangers, even the people working the turn were sassing us. If it wasn’t as cheap as it was (a holiday on a Monday), it probably would’ve been a bit worse if a rating. Probably won’t come back unless something makes me change my mind.
Would be really nice if people would learn how to fix a divot
Overpriced / Poor Condition
This could be a very nice course, but the fairways were full of dead spots. Greens were OK, but slow. Rough was terrible. For $72, not a good value. Other courses are nicer that cost $50-$60 on the weekend. Last time I played there the greens had just been aerated. Probably won’t go back for a long time.
Good day of golf
Some of the tee boxes and fairways need some work but over all a nice course for the money. Greens were in good shape.
