The Links at Everline
About
Designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr., the Everline Resort & Spa is a delight not only for its great golf, but for its history and scenic qualities, as well. In fact, the Audubon Society has certified the Everline Resort & Spa as a Cooperative Sanctuary due to its commitment toward natural greens-keeping methods.
Nestled in a scenic valley with protected wetlands, the Everline Resort & Spa gives golfers an outstanding day on the links, combining challenging play with awe-inspiring scenery. Forced carries and tight fairways put accuracy at a premium at this course, which holds a mind-boggling slope rating of 146 from the back tees.
For golf travelers looking to make Squaw Valley their home base, the golf action will not disappoint, and the resort has four outstanding restaurants, as well as all the amenities any golf traveler should expect from this legendary golf destination that was a host to the 1960 Summer Olympics.

What happened to Squaw Creek??
I am sad to say, ownership has let this once pristine course go to s#!t!! The greens are slow and spotty, and the trap are atrocious. Squaw Creek, whoops, Palacades " is a resort, but the course is no better than the worst muni in your town. Oh did I forget to mention they have the gawl to charge $125 for the "privilege of playing there.
After finishing my round, I made my way to the pro shop. I expressed my displeasure, but that got me nothing more than an "I'm sorry".. And some lame excuse about the "Resorts" and new ownership..
Not what I call stellar customer service!!
I know that picture are worth more than words, so I have attached several photos of greenside sand traps... More like Waste Bunkers!!
Don’t Bother
Not worth the money. Course is majestic, layout is challenging and fair. Conditions are terrible. Soggy, muddy fairways. Greens have been neglected. Course will need MONTHS to dry out. Maybe play again in September.
Wait a couple months
only one green was in great shape. bring a lot of balls
Not even close to being worth $129. Staff was very friendly with getting me out to the course but once out there I was very dissatisfied with the condition of the golf course. Dead patches of grass on the greens, tee boxes not mowed, black tees missing on some holes, grass growing in bunkers, and the list goes on. Just an overall poor experience for paying $129. Will not be returning anytime soon.
Most poorly kept course I have seen
I live in the area and came out to play this course with a friend who was visiting. I just can’t believe that people play this course. First, I know it is hard to keep a well conditioned course up here in these dry conditions, but this is another level. There is no real rough around the fairway, so if you don’t hit the fairway then your ball is gone. Also, I hit the fairway many times and still lost my ball as it rolled off into very tall grass or swamp. Even if you did hit a good ball down the middle of the fairway the condition of the fairways and the greens were beyond bad. There were holes and patches everywhere. The greens were the length of a normal fairway, so I should have been chipping instead of putting. The sand traps were unrecognizable because they were over grown and in kept. If my friend was not there I would have stopped and got my money back. If you want to spend 100$ to ride a golf cart, lose all your balls, and drink a few expensive beers then this is the course for you.
Course review
Played with a friend. Layout was majestic, smoke was not too bad, conditions of greens were poor for the money. Would play a different course for that amount.
Terrible shape
They need to figure out how to maintain the course. Awful condition
The best of times and the worst of times...
Amazing experience.
Very nice views
This is my first time playing this course but not the first time to this area. We snow ski at squaw every year so we know the area. The course condition was my disappointment. The course was if fair shape at best. I will be playing a tournament there this Friday that's why I did a warm up round. Word on the street is the course is not in great shape.
ski not golf
first hard to find pro shop
second green condition was pre bad
we don' t want play again
good for ski not golf
Golfer beware
Great course layout, but not very well maintained. The greens are ragged at best. Bumpy and slow. Most if not all the sand traps appear to have not been raked once this entire season. What the heck Squaw Creek? Get it together Also found several planks on the wooden bridges geenside to be dangerously weak and loose. A serious accident waiting to happen.
I generally play this course several time a year, but its not happening this year. Not wirth the drive and the ridiculous green fees for such a poorly maintained course!
Worst condition course for the price.
I would give this place a few years to get back on track. Conditions were terrible.
You should have paid me to play this course!
Greens horrible shape, fairways dry and sprinklers running on numerous holes. Fairways so hard and dry couldn’t keep the ball on the fairway. Most tee boxes dry weeds.
Horrible experience!!
Play someplace else
The “ice damage” to the greens and the course conditions are embarrassing. The course is challenging to begin with but general maintenance and conditions were terrible. We were fortunate that was not a factor in the day.
Spectacular
I’m writing this because the negative reviews here almost scared me away from coming to this course, which would have robbed me of an unforgettable, awesome time playing it. It’s true that the greens were bumpy, but that’s because the grass takes time to grow back after the snowy season ends. So I’m sure these will be much smoother in the late summer/early fall.
Given the dreadful reviews here, I was pleasantly surprised at the imperfect, but totally playable condition of the tee boxes and fairways. The course is built into the mountain sides and natural wetlands, giving it a really authentic feel. Personally, I would argue that this is how golf was meant to be played, sans a reliance on heavily manicured, human-created landscapes. Overall, I felt like I was hanging out in Yosemite and I got to bring my golf clubs too!
And by the way, I did not find the course conditions to take away at all from how true my score felt at the end of each hole. The course is a great, fun challenge as is. In the wetlands area, just stay out of the thick grass beyond the fairway - it will eat your golf ball.
Golfer beware
I would typically recommend playing this course. Great layout and a beautiful course overall. But what this site failed to mention, was that the greens are in terrible shape. Sanded, bumpy and very patchy! The late snow damaged them to unplayable shape. What's worse, the course still wants top dollar to play it. In my experience in playing mountain courses, they are at least a month away..... Save your money!
