Slammer and Squire Golf Course at World Golf Village
About
World Golf Village is home to 36 challenging holes of championship golf. The Slammer & Squire Course is named after the two World Golf Hall of Fame legends, Sam Snead and Gene Sarazen, who served as consultants to the course's designer, Bobby Weed. The golf course is known for its tricky par-3 holes and the carefully preserved beauty of the landscape. Its traditional layout meanders through native flatwoods and hardwood hammocks, running alongside wetland preserves and a wildlife habitat. The scenic Slammer & Squire Course features contoured greens and gently rolling, generous fairways. There is also an abundance of water on the golf course in the forms of lakes and marshes.

Course was great, staff not so much
I have played here before and the staff was more efficient There was no one to drive to the club house and in the pro shop , I was told maybe the intercom needs batteries by an overweight looking lazy young man. Next I was told outside they were busy with an outing and had no time to help any one else. Great attitudes!! I teed off at 1;10 and was told by the starter that we we would most likely not finish. I t did not get dark until 5:45. What did he think I might leave! So 4 1/2 hours is not enough time. We finished at 5;30. There was no one to clean the clubs or transport us back to the parking lot. I am not spoiled it is more than a reasonable distance to carry a large bag hence that is why they have shuttles. Very disappointed with the treatment. As far as the course it was in very good condition and I thoroughly enjoyed playing there. So ignore the staff and enjoy the course!!
This course is very wide open and very fair to play.
I thoroughly enjoyed playing this course. Fairways are wide and playing the white tees a good challenge for the senior golfer. Greens rolled very true and were fast. Not much water on the course. Only negative is that the course is pricey but it is a resort golf course!!!
RP Review
Still too pricey at $60.00
Drop it down to $45.00 and the course would be packed.
We pretty much had our own private course on a Saturday morning.
That's crazy
A nice track in very good condition
Played this course a few times now and always find it to be in very good condition. Pace of play is usually good. Rangers do a good job of checking on pace of play. A good track you can count on.
Slammer and Squire
Excellent course. I took advantage of "Hot Deals" cost of $45 after tax.
My only gripe is that it was cart path only and this was neither announced on Golf Now nor at the Pro Shop before the round began. The course had recently planted its winter rye grass.
I'm also not a fan of every 20-something staffer calling me buddy.
Great course on a Hot, day.
I had a 7:51 tee time, but went out at 7:15. Only one other group, a twosome, a few holes ahead of me, on the course. As others have noted the course was over seeded, so cart path only. Found it strange that there were so few golfers, a lot of open tee times. I liked the layout a lot. It was in very good condition, not too wet, the greens and sand traps are in excellent shape. It looks from the tees to be much more challenging, but it has generous landing areas. Played in less than 3 hours which would have been just over 2, except for the draw/hook that had me always on the side of the fairway away from the cart path. Give it a try.
Excellent better than I expected for a resort location
More like a private club than a resort. Staff was excellent. Will play again.
Very slow
cart path only due to overseeding, and pace of play reduced because of it, led to a less than acceptable day of golf.
Excellent experience
The course was just over seeded, but the fairways were still nice and tight. The greens were like glass, lighting fast. The staff were all super nice. I had a great time. I still suck though.
Great experience
We had all day to find a way to kill some time before flying back home and decided to play this course, especially since golfnow provided a hot deal.
We even asked for maybe a move up in tee times to allow more time before flight and they more than happy to do that as a couple of groups canceled.
The course was in excellent shape and we both had some highlights to talk about.
The staff was extremely courteous and would definitely go back, if I had the opportunity again.
challenges at every turn
Requiring deft shot making the course is fair with an emphasis on short game skills
Great course
Greens are great, Course gives you a challenge but not to the point where you get frustrated. Staff friendly and helpful.
Challenging
Thought this course a little more challenging than the King & Bear course.
great course to play
the only thing could be a little better view from tee box on some holes if brush was a bit lower for better views where fairway was. the day had some rain and sunshine mixed. got a great deal from golf now 30 percent off. got to play a great course watch the golf chanel for that deal wow.
Worth every penny!
The course was in very good condition, the staff very friendly and helpful and I played on a perfect day. All the things a golfer hopes for every time we play.
I have played this track a dozen or more times and have been pleased each and every time. If I were to join a club again, it would be this one.
Great Course
I really like this course. Fun layout, some challenging par 3s. The greens were still recovering from being punched, but they were still pretty fast. Beautiful clubhouse! I will definitely play here again.
Great course, aerated greens
Third time in this course & it never disappoints! Great range, great staff, great time.
The course was aerated about 3 weeks ago & it looked like they just gave it a second sanding so it was a little bumpy. Though this was the case, it was still quite fast on the greens & it looks like it will be fully back in about 1 - 1/12 weeks time.
Would highly recommend for the price right now, very much worth it!
Very Wet
St. Augustine has gotten a lot of rain - course was playing 90 degree rule. Some bunkers washed out, pin positions haven't changed in awhile - all resulting from way to much rain. Wait a week or so before you play - it should dry out.
Beautiful Course
I have now played King & Bear and Slammer & Squire. Have to say both are above avg price and worth it. For my money, I actually liked S&S a little better. Course was in amazing shape considering the amount of rain and storms in the area. Fairways and greens rewarded good shots. Starter and staff were very friendly. Very enjoyable experience. I will be back.
This course has a very straightforward layout
The layout was very straight forward; by that I mean not tricked up. Only one or two doglegs on the course and fairly large greens. The fairways were also pretty forgiving with large bunkers. There was water on the course, but it did not really come into play. Just a nice, fun round of golf. You know Pete Dye was not in the area!
