NICE CORSE, GREAT LAYOUT, GOOD CONDITION
Played with father-in-law on nice winter day. Weather was 50 to 60 degrees and not much wind. The course is challenging. The #1 tee pushes EVERY ball right, no matter how far left you play it! It is a frustrating way to start a round. After that the tees (we played the white tees) and fairways were laid out nicely. There are a nice mix of water hazards, sand traps and creek crossings and interesting holes emphasizing accuracy from the tee.
Some (but not all) of the sand traps were a bit rough. Some were more like dirt and you couldn't play them with a standard sand shot. There were quite a few of them, especially around the greens which also emphasized accuracy.
The greens were moderately fast with a challenging amount of undulations. Several pins were on a steep grades making it difficult to 2 putt which was a bit frustrating. I missed a couple putts by less than an inch and rolled 10 feet past!
I would recommend the course. I really like the course layout (except hole #1). Staff seemed helpful. No drink girls or marshals but we went on a slow day and really didn't need them.
Great golf fun
Good condition and great fun. Fast greens. Dog legs in both directions call for more shot shaping. Blue tees were great fun. White tees for high handicap only. Will play again.
Thank you for the review! We can't wait to see you back. Remember, for the best rate book online.
Too Windy of a Day to Play!
This was our first time on this course. Lots of hills. Very, very windy day with tons of leaves blowing across the course at all times; made it very difficult to find the ball, but that had nothing to do with the overall course. That was just the weather. Not sure if I would go back again, but since we got such a great deal on our green fee, I might consider going back. Cost for bag of range balls very high! Wasn't impressed with driving range for pre-game warm-up.
We are sorry about the weather. Please come back when the weather is better and experience our course again! Email me directly for a promo code, hollynteetimes@yahoo.com
Decent course
Decent course for the money. Fun layout. My only complaint is I was first off the box in the morning and even though I saw staff riding around the course there were at least 7 flags laying down on the green. It caused me to have to drive to the green to put the flags up then back to my ball. That was irritating especially since I saw staff driving the course.
We are glad you like the layout of our course! We are sorry about the flags, please email directly for a promo code, hollynteetimes@yahoo.com
Ball lost in fairways.
Hit a good or even perfect drive and spend 10 minutes looking for your ball in the high, choppy fairway. Don't waste your time, balls, or money here.

Interesting course
Tight fairways. If you hit em short but straight this is the course for you! Interesting layout. Tough greens though -very quick and lots of undulation. Fairways a bit hard too but I enjoyed it none the less. Loved the use of elevation. I would say prepare to have some fun here but not to shoot a low score.
Thank you for the review! We hope to see you back soon.
Poorly maintained
The bunkers were basically hard dirt, & there were fire ant mounds all over the course. Portions of the course are very pretty, & the greens are very fast and challenging. I would play it again if I got the same $20 deal I found this time but not at their normal rates considering the poor condition of much of the course.
We are sorry about the conditions of the course. Please give us another chance, email me directly for a promo code, hollynteetimes@yahoo.com
Very Rude
I reserved a tee time through Golf Now which had to be pre-paid and was non refundable. I agreed to the terms and conditions that were given to me in order to purchase the green fees. Nowhere in the terms and conditions did it say anything about "no denim". I understand this policy at nice clubs although one that shares their parking lot with an apartment complex is really pushing it. I was told in order to play that I would have to leave and come back wearing something else. I was surprised to find two other people there wearing jeans upon my return. When I explained how unhappy I was with the shop "clerk", he acted as if he could care less. Because of this, I told him that I would write a review explaining the situation in which he responded, "who cares, it's only one review and anyone that knows anything about golf knows that you wear proper golf attire." Obviously had I known about the policy prior to getting to the course, I would not have worn jeans. Since they do not sell slacks there, I had to leave the course and go buy some. If I known how much I would end up spending this day for my son and I to play a round of golf, I would have most definitely chosen a course in much better condition than this one.
Maybe he was just having a bad day but I have never thought that was the way you treat any customer in any type of business.
We won't return
The golf course was not in good condition. The tee boxes are not level in most cases, bunkers are hard and have dirt, not sand in them. The greens were good and fast but the remainder of the course would be better suited for goats to graze than play golf.
We are so sorry for the bad experience at the course. Please email me directly for a promo code.
Try Again Soon
Unable to play, course was closed because of a Jr. (kids) PGA Tournament. No notice found out upon arriving at the course. The kids that played as young as 9. Good for them !!!
Nice Layout
Pretty course and facilities. Members don't like us non-members playing the course.
Nice course for the money
I played the. Golf Club at McKinney on a whim because there was a hot deal on Golf Now. I'm new to the game, and have less than ten rounds under my belt.
I bit off more than I could chew with this course. It features pretty narrow fairways on a lot of holes with plenty of opportunity to hit out of bounds. A large portion of the course is lined with houses, which really messed with my head. The greens on the par threes are well protected by water, sand, or both. I hit more shots from the sand during this round than I had total going into the day.
The course was in good shape, and is fairly scenic considering it's location. Navigating it can be a bit confusing. I figured out after the front nine that the key is not to turn unless a sign tells you to.
I'd play this course again, but not until my game improves a bit.
Good value
I played the course while on a trip to the Dallas area and booked a hot deal for $10.00 plus fees. Paired up with two locals and had a great time. The course was in good condition considering the lack of rain and the heat of August. The greens were very fast and in good condition.Overall a good course.
Poor design and maintenance
There are two things that can lead to a poor golf course - upkeep and design. This course had both. It seemed like certain holes were built around apartment buildings because they had no choice. Good shots would unfairly end up in high rough that was very unkempt. Tee boxes were beat up. Trees were not trimmed on some holes and extended into the fairway where a shot should go. No GPS available. Extremely slow play. Sand traps with no sand but standing water due to no drainage. An exceptionally poor experience. I quit after 16 holes and 4.5 hours.
Golf club at McKinney
Greens and fairways were very good! Grass clippings were everywhere, which took away from the experience and aesthetics
Needs tender lovin care
The is a challenging layout with tight fairways and undulating greens. Off the fairway this day was death. It felt un manicured for such a beautiful course. Sand traps were hard dirt. The surrounding vegetation is over grown a bit. Every time I lost a ball I found three others in deep grass. Most of the club type courses we play seem in the same shape. Kind of " she must have been beautiful years ago " shape.
Great layout - moderate course conditions
Overall really liked the layout of this course and the challenges it presented. Fairway and bunkers not in the greatest shape but certainly playable. Would definitely play this course again.
Greens are very fast stay beow the hole
I like the front 9 a very good challenge. Greens are lighting sown hill so you have to stay beow the hole.
Very cheap round but you get what you pay for
The course was $15 for a round which you can't beat. There was not a beverage cart which was a downfall as well as the course was not maintained well except for the fairways, which were trimmed at best.
Thank you for the great review! We are so glad you had a great time with your father-in-law. We hope to see you back soon.
