Cannon Ridge Golf Club sprawls across 200 acres of rolling countryside situated along the shores of the Rappahannock River. Located in historic Fredericksburg on what was once a Civil War battle site, cannon emplacements accent the course. The diverse layout wanders through dense woodlands and across bluffs and deep ravines. The scenic wetlands come into play on a few holes. The greens are small and bordered by strategically placed bunkers, but they are open in the front, making them more player friendly with hardly any forced carries. The golf course is not always forgiving, though, it is even considered one of the toughest public courses in the state. Don't be fooled by the par 3s. They may be short but they are tough. In addition to the course, Cannon Ridge Golf Club offers a large driving range as well as chipping and putting greens.

Great layout and conditions for time of year (December 28th).
Love the course but needs new carts and cart barn. Cart path needs work in places. Hate the ball warshers on the carts. Will test any level.
nice course, but bad cart
Great course, naturally designed and challenging, beautiful !
But carts need to be changed or upgraded
Fun but pricey.
The course is in moderately good condition for a public course. There are too many torn up areas and bare spots in the rough.
Greens are average speed, but rough around the greens need more care. The course is a fun, challenging layout. A bit expensive for the conditions we experienced in December.
Always in great shape
This course is two exits north of me. I would play it more often but even with a cop discount and can be pretty steep on the weekends. I tend to play it during the winter season. This course always stays green throughout the winter. It's an amazing track.
fair layout and distances
While the bunkers could use better sand, the overall condition of the course is quite good. The greens are fast but fair.
The greens were rolling great
Great course that starts out good to ease you into the round then gives you two challenging holes to get you thinking. Great driving range and pratice green. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Really nice golfing experience all around. They have done a great job and this is a very worthwhile local place to play.
Visually pleasing and pretty difficult
Even from the middle tees this course plays long with forced carries from many tees. Excellent challenging layout with great fast greens. Worth the drive from MD and DC.
Top notch course
Cannon Ridge is a demanding course. The further back you play the more difficult this course is. It's a fun course to play and was in great condition.
Must play in Virginia
Great course well maintained. Should be on your list of course to play in Virginia. Only quibble is that the pace of play can be extremely slow and a couple of holes have extremely soggy fairways. New addition to greens - family friendly 8 inch cups - usually out of the way but if you miss around the greens they may be in the way. Overall great course good value for $$ when book through golfnow.com
Great shape, fast greens.
Pace of play could be better with marshalling. Some groups take long breaks at the turn, making the round even longer. We waited nearly 30 minutes to tee off on #10. Aside from that the track is great.
Great challenging fun
Pro and starter were very helpful and accommodating. The course was in very good shape. As a twosome we played in less than 3 hours.
forced carries on several holes very tough golf course
holes 4 & 5 two of the hardess holes I've ever played back to back
This course was outstanding.
Great course for the price. It was one of the more challenging courses that I have had the pleasure of playing. I lost a number of balls but had a great time doing it.
Cannon Ridge a must play in the area
Cannon Ridge is a must play in the area. Challenging course but playable for beginners like myself. Overall, the staff was friendly; great value through GolfNow, and the course was well maintained.
Course demands precise tee shots
Great layout and trouble on every hole if your not careful....Greens are quick, and true. Would like to see some of the fairways improved. Too many landing areas in dire need if sand/divot mix.
Greens fees were a value today ($39) because of Golfnow. Not sure it is worth the $69 rack rate during the week
Challenging course in great condition
The course is a bot of a drive from DC, but the course is worth the drive. The course is isolated, so there's not much close by once you leave the interstate. The club house and restaurant wasn't large, but covers the basics. There is a lot of variety between holes - elevation changes, doglegs, trouble on left, trouble on the right, trouble to carry. It took a toll on my strokes and on my golf ball supply. Having played it once, I would play it again in more of a target golf manner. Definitely a course for the shot makers. Greens were in great shape - best I've seen in the area, but still surprised at how few golfers in this area take the time to fix their ball marks. Staff was very friendly. Golfnow rate was very competitive compared to the regular green fees.
Very challenging Course in very good shape
This course is usually in very good shape. The forced carries off several tee boxes could cause trouble for higher handicapp golfers that hit the ball low off the tee at times. Pace of play was nice and course is very nice to look at.
Great track, interesting holes and in decent shape
Super golf experience. It is nice to not see too many homes/roads when playing, and this course doesn't disappoint. There is a premium on hitting the greens.
Very challenging, tight fairways but fair, lots of forced carries, no make up shots
This course if right with The Federal Club, Ballyhack, Golden Horseshoe, Upper Cascades. The club house is not overwhelming..but the people friendly. For under $30..absolute steal, but bring your A game and better be driving well...
Course was in rough shape
Greens were good but mostly everything else needs some work
