Editor's Note: Course closed for business in Dec 2017
Cannon Ridge Golf Club sprawls across 200 acres of rolling countryside situated along the shores of the Rappahannock River. Located in historic Fredericksburg on what was once a Civil War battle site, cannon emplacements accent the course. The diverse layout wanders through dense woodlands and across bluffs and deep ravines. The scenic wetlands come into play on a few holes. The greens are small and bordered by strategically placed bunkers, but they are open in the front, making them more player friendly with hardly any forced carries. The golf course is not always forgiving, though, it is even considered one of the toughest public courses in the state. Don't be fooled by the par 3s. They may be short but they are tough. In addition to the course, Cannon Ridge Golf Club offers a large driving range as well as chipping and putting greens.

Good layout, but greens need help.
Not the best of course, not the worst. Course has a pretty good layout and some very good scenery, but some of the greens don't fit the price they ask during prime hours.
Poor shape
Course is in poor condition. Tore up in the fairways and the greens are spotty. Just a lot of rubbish here that needs attention as well. Many blind shots that can kill you. Course is priced right, but really needs some TLC.
Nice course with history, well maintained
It's not a championship-level course in pristine condition, but it's close, and it's a really nice course for the GolfNow prices I paid. There are a couple of holes that bugged me in terms of the layout, but perhaps I would use different strategy when playing again. It appears the course is currently undergoing a renovation. I would love to see it again when it reopens.
