Great Course, too expensive l!
I personally love this Palmer design, but since the new ownership the price’s have gotten ridiculous. $7.38 for a bucket of 20 golf balls isn’t great. The greens were perfect and the fairways were in great shape but the only reason I could afford to play here was a coupon on a hot deal.. and it was still a $40 round, the pace of play was terrible for a Monday afternoon 4:40
Fun course
Fun course. Worth the money. New management. Great things coming including new club house.
Great greens.
Greens in best shape I’ve ever seen there. Used to be bent grass that burned out in summer. They were replaced with a Bermuda and even this early in year they are great. Getting a true roll.
New clubhouse and rec area are almost done so the awkward parking and portable toilets should soon be gone. Getting close.
Course playing easier with removal of some difficult traps.. you can now run the ball on certain greens without having to drop a fairway wood in over a trap and hold the green.
Coming along
Course will be really good when all of the construction is complete. Greens were good. Fairway and tee boxes are coming along. No clubhouse and porta-potty for a bathroom. Would like to see a reduced rate during construction, but I understand. Until complete, there are better options for a $70. Very promising and will compete with some of the better public courses once complete.
Comparable to Gaylord…
In price only! Greens good. Fairways hard to find grass sometimes…surely this will improve with warmer weather).. Close to home, but for a course trying to re-establish itself…you cant start @premium course prices! I went because i played late enough where price was ONLY $60 AFTER 3! With more time, despite being 5 min away from this course, i will drive 45 to Greystone or even Gaylord. They’re doing some great things to improve, but they cant ask us to pay for all the improvements before theyre even done!
Overpriced
Hardly any grass on the fairways. Mostly packed down mud. Greens were decent for this time of year. I know it is early Spring and didn’t expect the course to be in top shape but I feel that their rates should be discounted.
Rain held off!
Course was in a lot better shape than in the past. Lots of money being put into course. Logically the cost per round has gone up. I think it’s fair because the greens (even in March) we’re very nice and so was the rest of the course. They cleaned up a lot of the excessive foliage and brush and it looks great. Fellow golfers please, please, please fix your pitch marks and replace/ fill your divots. Once the pro shop and pavilion open up it’s gonna be a gem!!
Towhee was ok
I’ve played hear before 2020 now with new ownership lots of improvements new bridges cleaned up a lot of brush replaced sand trap at the back of hole #1 but basically the same layout the greens are super fast the carts r electric and quite but overall a good challenging course would recommend to friends and family watch for hot deals on GOLFNOW
Clubhouse under construction, but not a big deal. Course was nice, very playable for time of year.
In the works
Construction of clubhouse and pavilion continue .Grerns holding up well since they’ve been covered for freezes. Because of the construction, getting around to range, putting area, ports potties a pain but this too shall pass. The course actually played easier than a few years ago due to the removal of some pesky traps. They’ve happily cut back some of the over growth along river and fairways for better views. New bridges where needed. Definitely headed in all the right directions for summer.
Towhee Club is great
Towhee Club (formerly Kings Creek) is undergoing a complete makeover. The only thing lacking now is the completion of what will be a top notch clubhouse and Veranda. I have been playing here since May 2019 when the course was going through a bankruptcy, and conditions were definitely less than desirable. I personal believe that the actual course conditions are as good as any course in our area. When the clubhouse and Veranda are complete, Towhee Club will definitely be the best public golf course in the middle Tennessee area.
Holes
Get rid of the cup liners and tamp down the area around the hole after installing a new hole. It always seems like the holes are domed.
Course is in good condition but not worth the price of $69.
Other courses in the area are just as good for $20-$30 less. And the food is a lot cheaper. I got a chicken wrap and a whiskey and coke and was $22 before tip. Guess they are trying to pay for the new clubhouse. Will not play again unless for a deal.
