Horrible experiences
The staff over booked the course for its pace of Play. We waited every hole, got so frustrated with the wait, we left after 9 holes.
Not worth the frustrated.
If the ownership really cared about thier guests this would never happen.
You too can play Lionhead Legends in Six Hours
The round was scheduled for 10:21am, it finally started at 10:43am at 1st tee, it progressed normally until 9th hole, where I booked another round for 4:03pm.
The back nine seemed to more slowly to the point where we finished at 4:08pm
I hustled to get going on my second round without a break, The second round took 4.5 hours, which is what would be expected.
No marshals moving things along, seen one marshal once on both rounds.
The staff seem not to care about my nearly six hour round, like it was a normal experience and didn't warrant an apology or anything else.
This is not a premier golf facility in my eyes. The course however is in great shape and is a real test, no complaints about the course

Signature Hole Ruined
Regrettably, Kaneff has decided to mess with its "signature hole". First, it wisely "flipped" the front-nine to the back-nine and vice-versa. That made sense as the former #1, significantly slowed golfers off the first tee as it was an elevated tee with water/marsh hazard on the valley landing area.It was a good business decision. However, when they removed all of the tee-boxes except for the "Pro/Champion", and moved the remaining tees to the valley, it made this hole unworthy of a signature branding. It's a short layup to the edge of the Credit River and and medium length drive to the green. Stupid.
Thanks for the feedback. We switched the 9"s to speed up pace of play. In regards to our signature all tees except the Red's are below. Sometimes whites will go down below also. Maybe this was one of those days.
Top Drawer Course
One of the stronger layouts in the Greater Toronto Area. Always a treat to play. It is definitely a golfer's golf course. Anything less than your A game and you won't score well.
Staff is very friendly and the food lately is excellent.
Thanks for the feedback. Agreed!
EARLY GOLF
Course in descent shape for the weather..still soggy in spots on the fair weather. Greens in good shape for this time of year.
Early April round
The Legends is the better of the 2 courses at Lionhead, the Master's is cheesy - weird hole designs.
Always a decent course but for some reason always very wet. It's early in the season but even in the middle of the summer after a day of rain, you can find a fair bit of standing water. It seems the course has a drainage problem, ironic since it's owned by a land developer that
build residences.
Yesterday was no exception, it was standing water practically everywhere on the course. They really didn't clean up the many branches around. It was also cart path only which really slows down play at this course because of the layout. It's early spring so understandable but for $90 one should expect a prepared course. It's not worth that money yet.
Mainly clay based, tough to drain
Good Golf Course.
This is a great golf course. Played Legends, on the score card it says, Canada's most challenging course.
Staff is very friendly.
Thanks, those small greens and narrow fairways can challenge the best golfers!
Good test of golf
Great service at bag-drop as they put your bag on a cart with your name on it. Starters were friendly.
Course conditions were pretty good considering the rain we had the last couple of days. Tee boxes were in bad shape - lots of divots. Fairways were somewhat soft (despite it having rained two days ago) so it was cart path only the entire round. Greens rolled true and well struck shots didn't bounce off the green, but lots of foot traffic. This time of year, I don't think they cut and roll the greens as often as the summer. Played in 4.5 hours as a three-some, and kept up with the two-some ahead of us. Cart Path only rule was making it slow for everyone.
Love the challenge of the Legends. A good mix of draw and fades are needed and every club in the bag is used. Par 5's are reachable but Par 4's are long and challenging - so it's important to control the flight of your golf ball. Greens can be tricky in some spots. I'll continue to play here every year.
Challenging course
Always a good challenge. It was it good shape and now have a good selection of food for afterwards.
Thanks!
Tough challenge
This is one of the toughest courses I have ever played on. Being a 10-20 handicap, it was probably out of my league, but a good test of where my game really is. The course is relatively long with many par 4's over 400 yards, with woods on one side or another and water hazards in many locations, both across and along the fairways.
The greens were very fast, and the undulations make for a real test of putting skill (I didn't,t make a putt over 5 ft).
My only complaint was the sand, which is everywhere. I typically don't have a problem getting out of bunkers, but for some reason the sand did not react the way I expected. Could have been the shell shock from trying to get to the green!
On the whole, I would recommend this for good golfers, and only for duffers if you are ready to be humbled.
Truly Disappointed
For the reputation and expectation very disappointed.
96.00 w/ cart is far too expensive for this course.
17.00 for two tall boy beers??? Quite the profit for this course off its customers.
Tough feedback, but we will pass it along to the entire mgmt team, both on pricing of golf and food and beverage. I did a double check on the tall boy price and it is $7.08 at Lionhead.
Love this course but seems quality has gone downhill
This used to be one of my favourite courses to play but I feel that the quality of the course (ie. condition) and food has gone downhill over the last few years, while the prices still stay high. Not the same value as it used to be. Also, weekends are not the time for tournaments. Keep those times to the public to avoid pace of play issues.
Thanks Mattlee84, will pass this along to Rob our operations manager.
Still holds up pretty well
Enjoyed the round at Lionhead Legends. Havent played here in several years. The course was in pretty good shape but golfers, we need to replace divots and marks on the greens. The greens were slow so fairly easy to make putts. There was no card on the cart and some confusion with the guy running the carts. Otherwise, great pace of play, great monitoring of the pace and well worth the deal!
Yes it is a challenge to get divots replaced and ball marks fixed. We try our best to keep up. Thanks for the great rating.
Legends will win!
Lionhead Legends is an amazing track that lives up to it's reputation, one of the if not the most challenging track in Canada. The staff, marshals, cart boys and head pro Trevor were all very welcoming! The course is in good condition despite the lack of rain this year. Had a friend here from Marco Island, Florida, he plays quality courses there. He was very impressed. Will definitely play many times again. If you have never played, is a must do!!!! Thanks again Iggy, and team.
Thanks!
The longest round I never finished
It started out with a 20 minute delay before being sent to the tee. When we got to the tee there were two group there this took another 20 minutes. There was no marshals on the course and we had to wait on every shot from the tee and fairway. After a 40 minute start delay it took us an additional 4 hours and 30 minutes to get to hole 15 at which point we walked off the course. It's impossible to enjoy golf at this pace or play well. I called the proshop on the way home and they didn't seem to care too much.
The course is after a money grab if you amends overbooking and won't spend on marshals to keep pace of play. Very disappointed :(
Hot and thirsty !!!!
Tee time at 7:39am Hottest day of the year and not one cart person offering drinks. I guess they only have someone out there when the alcohol is legal to be served. Gatorade or bottled water would be nice!!! I guess no money to be made unless its alcohol. Rest rooms look nice but they have no paper towels to wipe after washing your face. Overall not very happy
Thanks for the honest feedback. We will send this over to our operations team.
I'm updating my own posting.
I did comment to Lionhead directly and I was not expecting any great response, however ......
I did receive a response from John D., who took my comments on board and will speak with all concerned to see what lessons can be learned. John D. even provided a complimentary round, which is way more than I was expecting (maybe a discount or a free burger/coke at best).
So, Lionhead has stepped up to the plate and does value their customers and customer comments
