Great Day
Had a great day at Tour 18. Course was in good shape for being Jan. Staff were great.
Much Improved
Been here a few times over the years. Whoever is the new greenskeeper should be given a medal. Greens are outstanding and this is top place for off campus from our “club”. Fairways are a tad thin in some places, but nothing some spring time weather can’t fix. Was also happy to see real maintenance happening on the bunkers. Staff is awesome. We will be back….
Much Improved
The hreens have healed very well since last summer when they were fungicide dominated and nearly unplayable. I was optimistic when i saw how well the dormant bermuda looked and played. This course is a special place but can he so much more with new construction finished bunker projects on a couple of holes coming. The avid golfer will need a rangefinder here.. Golf cart technology is not found here. And not that it needs to be here either. And with the blind shots and elevation at Tour 18 FM, it is an essential tool for approach shots and an overall better score.
Way over priced
14 out of 18 greens were in “money worthy”, condition the rest of the course, no bueno.
Great idea and layout can’t override the terrible conditions. Played four years ago and it hasn’t improved, unfortunately. The staff was really nice and did their part, although the “bag boys” weren’t interested in earning tips.
I always wonder at this place what it feels like to own a multi-million-dollar house on a terribly maintained golf course? Why wouldn’t the homeowners support this course? Get investors..etc? Their property values would appreciate significantly.
Can’t Recommend Until Fairways are Back
All the reviews are accurate. They lost the fairways and almost every single hole has big dead patches. The bunkers are all in very poor condition as well.
The positives are the greens are in good shape. And the staff was very friendly.
I’ve played it many times over the years. I took someone out who had never played and was embarrassed at the conditions and wasting their time/money.
We played midweek. It wasn’t worth $64. But I would be livid if I paid the weekend rate. They really should disclose the conditions or price it for the conditions.
Hopefully there are plans to grow everything back next spring. It’ll be a major project to get this course up to snuff. It’s going to be a major project. Huge parts of every hole needed to resodded/seeded. The bunkers need to be redone.
It’s a shame. The layout is conducive to being as nice as The Tribute. But it’s honestly worst than Riverchase right now. But at least Riverchase is cheap.
Needs TLC but great course
The greens and tee boxes were in great shape but the fairways were very spotty. Lots of wet patches, which shows they’re working to make things better. Overall, it’s about the experience of playing PGA style holes. It’s a gorgeous area and very fun to play.
Course is a disaster
I was extremely disappointed and had a horrible experience due to the horrific conditions on the entire course. I can’t believe the pro shop didn’t inform us about the poor conditions BEFORE we played. I also can’t believe they are still charging so much to play there. Until they completely repair and/or replace all fairways and most greens, I will not be back.
Good Day
Had a good day / round. Fairways were in rough shape, but with the weather we have had this summer, it’s no surprise. Pace of play was a little slow again, also no surprise with the nice weather.
Overall a great day.
Now the Fairways?
I’ve played this course a dozen or so times over the last 5 years. Over the last few years the greens were horrible. Then, earlier this season we played it and the greens were in much better shape. It wasn’t worth the $125/round, but it was in better shape. So…when we saw the rate had dropped to $100/round we thought maybe they were realizing an empty course wasn’t such a good thing? We were wrong….the fairways were “un”fairways. Very disappointing….again. We like the people and love the challenge of the course, but if you’re charging premium rates you better have premium conditions.
Burnt Fairways
Everything was fine, but the biggest issue is that the fairways were completely burnt. This made play really bad. The people working the course knew it was bad, the Marshall warned us before we went out. To charge full price for the conditions, is robbery. I will not be going again because of this. Had I known about the issue before, we would not of booked.
Do not waste your money
Do not I repeat do not waste your money on this course. The fairways are completely dead and it is just hardpan and dirt. They blamed lightning striking the water tower but from what I heard it’s been in this condition for years.
Good Day
Had a good day. Pace of play was good. Greens are in great shape. Fairways and tee boxes are very dry - but, the whole State is very dry. Staff were great as always.
Very Disappointing Conditions at ANY Price
Relative came in from out of town and we wanted to try and play. We noticed the price was lowered to $64 from $83 which was surprising because sadly there’s no 9 hole rate or twilight or really any discounts any longer. So, we were thinking they aerated the greens, but the greens were the only thing that was green out there. Tee boxes and fairways were totally burnt and hard pan, and it was like playing in the middle of the desert. It was definitely not worth the $130+ or even half of that amount and it’s going to take a long time before there’s grass out there. Staff is friendly and helpful and what’s sad is this place use to be great, but unfortunately it’s really gone downhill. Save your time and money and go elsewhere!
Greens were in good shape, but the rest of the course is below standard for the rate. Dead grass, bare spots, etc
Bad shape = Sad experience
Course is normally fun but currently in sorry shape. Fairways were almost all dry and yellow. The greens were in better shape. Some sand traps were horrible and had no sand. Others were overgrown with grass inside them.
It is sad they let this once very fun course devolve.
The staff was still courteous.
Great Course
Incredible course. The pro shop and everything was very nice. Driving range isn’t anything special but who cares. The staff was definitely one of the friendliest I’ve experienced in DFW. Marshall was very nice as well. Only complaint is we got backed up on the back 9 and we never saw the warden after lunch. Was waiting 10-15 minutes behind a group last 5 holes. Besides that it’s a great course will definitely test your putting!
