A pleasant afternoon golding
Good golfing weather and no one in front or behind us, meant that we could enjoy a family afternoon on the golf course. The course was in good condition, but had to look out for the rough just off the fairways which caused problems for the higher handicappers.
As this was our first time here, we found particular difficulty in working out where the next tees were and the older members of our group would have preferred less of a hilly course, but overall we had a good afternoon and will be back at some point.
Great
First time playing this course. I would class myself as beginner/capable. This course offers so much variety. Great for beginners but also hard enough to challenge the experienced players. I was surprised with the layout, being so close together but it works great. The regular players are very friendly and happy to give advice to new comers. The greens are the best Iv seen ever. I’d recommend to anybody. I may even consider becoming a member as it is so close to my home .
Very well done KGC
A warm welcome.
It was twenty years since I last played this course and was delighted to find it in the great condition I remembered it. Unfortunately, (unknown to the professional), the bar was closed for what looked like renovations. It would not have been difficult to offer a drinks service outside, but that was not available. Having said that, both the professional and especially several members we talked to during the round, were exceptionally friendly and helpful.
Hidden Gem
I have to say the reason we played this is it is a Colt designed course. What a find. We paid less than £50 for a 2 ball and it was worth any penny and then some.
Post lockdown round
We played this course 2 days after the easing of lockdown conditions.
It is in great shape, and has been every time we have visited. It is narrow at points, has some nicely shaped holes, a good variety in the par 3s and a lot of undulation to make you consider club selection.
The main building is closed which means there are not toilets available on arrival. The catering/amenity staff were not very helpful on this matter and there was no signage to indicate where the nearest toilets are (the half way house, following the road around from the 1st Tee). My suggestion that it was not welcoming to guests fell on profoundly deaf ears. This is not like anything I have experienced here before.
As restrictions are in place, there were no amenities available, but these should be back in place after April 12th.
Really good course
Enjoyed the course, just the right amount of challenge and forgiveness for beginners and experienced players. Will play again.
Great course
There's a problem with leaves at this time of year, but they were out on the course tractor mount blower and tractor mounted leaf collector. I went astray 3 times and paid for it as lost ball twice. Still it's autumn and the colour of the trees is great ,they had flowers in a couple of abandoned bunkers. The sun was out as promised and had a great round with a friend. No you can not see my score card.I highly recommend this course to anyone. Book in enjoy.
Nice course
I have lived in Northampton for years but never played Kingsthorpe before. I had heard it was extremely tight, but I was pleasantly surprised that it didn’t live up to that particular reputation!
It was in great shape; particularly the greens.
It wasn’t busy when I played, so I wasn’t affected, but I can imagine it being a bit slow around those holes with shared tees and greens (and the one where you drive over the previous green) at busier times.
Tight course with tighter green undulations
Tight course with some shared tee boxes and greens.
Some of the hardest greens I have played. Play to drop it in the hole, or you are going 10ft past...
Kingsthprpe
A nice course. Plenty of signs to help with next tees. Course was in good condition although very hilly. Didn't get to use the off course facilities but everyone was very friendly and helpful.
