Great Course just a shame not Twilight Golf Rates offered

Would recommend the course to anyone to play. It was in great condition and it is a good fair test for golfers of all abilities. Staff very friendly. Only negative was not option of Twilight Golf rates. We teed off at 5.30pm so no chance of playing 18 holes with darkness but still had to pay full normal daily rate for 18 holes.

Good value round of golf at a tight golf course!

First time playing at Widnes so wasn't sure what to expect. The pro was friendly and very helpful on arrival, pointing out where to go for the next tee on some holes and a few tips for our game. Was quite busy and got stuck behind a 4 ball for a few holes but they let us through eventually. Course was a good test with some tight tree lined fairways and accurate tee shots are a must! Condition wasn't amazing but after the heavy rain the last couple of weeks, it was probably no surprise that the course was soft and wasn't cut short with some cut grass still on the ground. Greens were okay but a bit bumpy with the softness. Lots of pitch marks on some of them - why don't people repair them?? Had a drink after and the staff were friendly. A good variety of holes (long and short, straight and dogleg) although par 3s are a bit samey. Good value for money, overall a good round of golf.

Excellent, tight, little course.........

This was our first time playing here and we were not disappointed. Fairways and especially the greens are in immaculate condition - the ground staff should be given a lot of credit for this!

Big hitters off the tee will need a maximum of 8-PW for their second approach shot into the immaculate greens for the vast majority of the holes. There are a lot of crossovers on the course so you need your wits about you! I heard players shouting ‘fore’ numerous times and balls landing on our fairway from adjacent tees throughout our round which I found comical.

There was a 4 ball in front of us, who were all members. They were friendly, polite and welcoming. Their speed of play was outstanding which meant we were not held up on the next tee - other 3/4 ball players and other golf courses take note!!!!!!

Overall, in my opinion, this is a great course although compact. The many crossovers are just a very, minor negative.

Many courses are really struggling for members and finances at the moment and will do so for sometime, with uncertainty over the current pandemic and looming financial crisis. It’s vital great courses like this continue getting the basics right in order to survive.

Would I play here again? Most definitely.

Would I consider joining here? Yes.

Our day was thoroughly enjoyable and that was because of the outstanding work of the ground staff and the pleasant 4 ball who were in front of us!

Thank you.

This course is challenging

This course to me was very interesting and challenging. It is very easily laid out with very good fairways. I felt I could improve my game on this course. I didn’t the refreshments side, but the spectators on the patio seemed to be relaxed. Thank you for letting me play around of golf on your premises. I booked and payed on line for me and a friend. He got called into work, but I told him how it went. He is looking forward to playing there, as I am again.

Not bad for the price

Quite tight with holes running up and down alongside each other.
Quite friendly.
In reasonable condition, you need to hit straight on the narrow fairways, overall not a bad test of golf at a competitive price.
Will play again.

Interesting to play

Course in good condition, particularly the greens, good variety of holes, little water to lose your ball in, but well placed bunkers to catch your ball, relatively narrow some fairways, lots of trees, challenging but very dificult to lose your ball - well recommended

Lovely course

A really nice tree lined course in very good condition with very good greens.
People on the course very pleasant and polite.
Rainy day so maybe this is the reason we had a tractor following us around putting loads of sand on the fairways which some of my group were not happy about, it would have been nice for someone to let us know what was happening !
A good day nice course and worth a game if you get the chance

Little short for my liking.

Course it’s self is decent, receptive greens!! With well looked after fairways. Only issue for me is the length, if hit a decent drive. Then approach is pretty much a 9i at best but genuinely a wedge in!! Even the par5’s resulted in driver 5-6i.

Nice parkland course

Good course , no rough really to speak of but fairways are nearly all lined with tress so need to be straight.
Greens in good nick and we’re pretty quick considering rain we’d had.
Course can be a tricky to navigate ( played alone and drove down wrong fairway once )
All in all would recommend Widnes and was well worth the £16 green fee

After early morning heavy rain car park was virtually empty on arrival at about 10. Course filled up later as weather improved. Course was in good condition and greens despite being recently hollow tined were true. Fairways in places were quite tight. I like the fact that straying off the fairway was punished by mature trees and not long rough where time can be wasted looking for balls. There were a couple of crossover points which could be troublesome if the course was really busy but overall a course which we enjoyed and will return to in the future.
