Will play again
Visiting from out of town and thought the coursewas s great value. Not difficult and well managed. Will play again when the rain passes
Hot day
Blue course was tight but fun. Good conditions but some standing water on course. Would certainly play again.
Good for the money
Is this the best course ever? Absolutely not. Is it good for a weekday round? Absolutely. The greens are ok - if people fixed ball marks they’d be able to care for the greens and let them run better. The fairways are fine but not great. The rough is fair.
You’re getting what you pay for, but you might be getting more than your money is worth. The course isn’t going to wow you but there are some pretty great views of monuments. It’s an affordable, decent, and very convenient course.
Better!
The change in management is obvious. The greens are cut and rolled. The rough is much more consistent... and they aren’t over-watering so it played fast and you could compress the ball. Much better course conditions!
Worth what you pay for
This course is nice for the average golfer. Very forgiving! As long as it doesn't rain 1-2 days prior, it will be great. If just a little rain it will be dreadful and drainage is terrible. Today was fantastic.
Major improvements made
The course conditions were good, a major improvement.
All the greens rolled smooth and fast. Fairways and rough were improved but need minor touch ups. We finished the round in 3.5 hrs on a busy day. Not bad for a historic municipal golf course.

Fairways are awful and greens are beat up. Good Views!
Best option in DC
I'm surprised I haven't reviewed East Potomac before now, but I walked away very impressed by my early spring round.
The Blue is the sort of municipal course every city should have. Affordable and straightforward but not without interest for good players. East Potomac won't swallow many golf balls (even a mid-handicapper can play 18 without losing one), but it's no slouch either, especially if some wind picks up.
On the front, some favorite holes include 6, a par 5 that veers towards the right, bordered by the Potomac up the right hand side, and 7, a very short (300 yard) par 4 with a severe dogleg left that presents many options for players.
After the turn, I enjoy the 11th, a semi-blind par 3 with a green that is larger than it appears from the tee. The next three holes play up the island toward Hains Point, with the river on the right, before turning back towards the clubhouse.
The course can get crowded and slow on summer afternoons, but we played in about 4 hours with a 9 am tee time on Saturday.
They converted the tees and fairways to bermuda last year, and I have never seen them in better shape. I can't wait to see how well they play in the heat of summer. The course used to let the rough grow far too long, I hope they keep the current look with moderate rough.
Fun, windy round at EP on 4/29. Greens were punched and rough needs to be trimmed (it's US Open length right now). Hopefully it'll round into good form now that spring is here.
